Your honest thoughts about the Lux comic?
On the one hand, while the old lore Noxus v Demacia era has its staunch defenders, the comic and the release of Sylas were the first time imo Demacia was actually interesting.
The mage rebellion storyline not only kicked Demacia out of the Generic Good Guy Kingdom archetype and into something darker and messier but it created a central conflict that moved almost every Demacian character's story forward.
So the "what happens" in the comic is great, big time important stuff.
But the "how" is...ehh...they really should have let Graham McNeill write it. The art is okay to questionable, and the characterization is total garbage.
Sylas seesaws between haunted tragic prisoner and moustache twirling villain at the drop of a hat. A lot of the comic wants to frame him like this evil Hannibal Lecter mastermind groomer when that makes no sense with his background as an unjustly imprisoned child scapegoated for an act of compassion that went horribly and accidentally wrong.
And Lux, poor Lux, hitherto depicted as a smart, competent, highly observant and intuitive young heroine - see her other short stories - is a naive idiot who makes several colossal dumbass choices to make the plot happen.
The Katarina comic tells an alternate POV of the same events that handles the characters a lot better imo.
The Mageseeker game also does a lot better job of portraying Sylas as the embittered but complicated antihero he should have always been and the dynamic between Sylas and Lux in the game, the broken bond of friendship and trust and opposing ideologies fighting for the same cause who still grudgingly respect each other, is very well done, 10/10, and so much better than trying to force ship crumbs. The Kata Comic / Mageseeker writers got the assignment.
