Basts, a common species on Pylapia native to Kev'fian savannahs and Heronic tundras.
They are a part of the sentient group known as Kami, which includes other animal-hybrid creatures like lyca, satyrs and kitsune.
Bast are scientifically thought to have been evolved from the same common ancestor as lyca, but the myth is that a terrible warlock cursed a beautiful woman to become part beast and it only made her stronger and more stunning. Bast are known for thriving in extreme climates, and often are aligned with fire and ice/water elements as a result. Their agility and deftness are unmatched by other species, and they don't often have mounts the way other species might.
Bast are found throughout most parts of Pylapia, although are much rarer in temperate zones such as Drasil and southern Heraldlit, and despise moist climates like Firefall and coastlines. The typically moral codes of bast usually summarize to "Protect your own and accept the needy," which often makes them seem uncaring to outsiders and aloof. Known races of bast include lions and leopards of the Kev'fian savannah, lynx, bobcats and snow leopards of Herony and northern Heraldlit, and maus of the forests.
Most basts worship the goddess Bast, supposedly the first of her kind, but also the sun god Herus and Juskin, god of safe passage. Other common patrons are goddess of family, Rosetta, and Zephilzeus, god of survival. Basts are known to raise their young as a community, sometimes known as colonies, and "mutt" kami are uncommon - often leaving the colony once old enough to find others like themselves.
Basts stand out from other species for their precision, agility, and tolerance to extremes. Their fur typically has stripes, specks or swirls and a long, thin tail, and are most identifiable by whiskers on their cheeks and slit pupils. They excel in dry climates and rocky environments as well.

Lux Lumen Masterpost
Hi! This blog is run by @kitzuukts , mostly serving for now a lore dump of an eventual project, hopefully animated series or comic.
What is Lux Lumen? A fantasy world where several species live in harmony, under the careful watch of a selection of deities either sprung into existence along with the world of Grovenii or becoming such famous heros after death they rose to immortality.
Okay, but what does Lux Lumen mean? A phrase essentially meaning "light be with you," or "brightest light," it's often used as a greeting, farewell, or wish of good luck between folks.
What inspired this world? Aphmau's Minecraft Diaries was the initial inspiration, but over time it has been influenced by She-ra and the Princesses of Power, my wonderful boyfriend, and a few other shows.
What time period is it? Equivalent of about 1640's Earth.

Overview of species on Grovenii, but specifically Pylapia
Eventual reference posts I'll link include the species overview, types and methods of magic, a character list, a list of moons, list of deities and pantheons, some flora and fauna, magical relics and artifacts, political factions, holidays and festivals, the three realms, and more!
Heraldlit Holy State, circa 948
Capital: Shepherd's Keep
Heraldlit consists of the main kingdom, comprised of the provinces on the west coast and surrounding Reykki Lake, the siren tribes on the penninsula, the southern territories, and the eastern coast colonies. Areas on the northwest coast were captured by Herony Empire.
Population: 10.4 million, mostly voidlings and humans. Northern areas have sirens, easterns contain hallow voidlings, and southern areas have brr'dohv.
Most in Heraldlit follow the House of Herus, a religion praising the sun god and the light and warmth he gives to the world, despite the country being mostly nocturnal. He was the one who created the Dialstone, an augury relic allowing those holding it a direct connection to him as well as divination magicks, giving raise to the secondary religious pope role of Dialkeep.
Major exports include wooden crafts, buttons, tools, and furniture, and surprisingly freshwater fish and oysters. As voidlings are pathivores, they often keep pets and there import a lot of exotic creatures and xolies. Other exports include bamboo products, gossamer, and woven clothes.
The social norms of Heraldlit form into "circles" of ranking among others you know. Your first circle is your partner, immediate family, and closest friends. Your second circle is coworkers, friends, your employees, etc. Your third circle are those that are aquaintances or you'd only address formally. There is also the "royal circle," which is the Dialkeep, Divine Liege, their heirs and aristocrats and barons.
