The Wizarding World sat on the edge of their seats as the election results came rolling through their screens. What had previously been a close race was quickly becoming a landslide after the tragic turn of events that occurred a couple weeks prior. After the werewolf attack during the Charity Gala, public opinion had swayed heavily towards the side of ‘law and order’. While it hadn’t been the plan, the death of Bellatrix Black had played a massive role in how people casted their vote. The members of the Wizarding Community watched as Rodolphus Lestrange was named the new Minister of Magic, with Penelope Rosier at his side as Undersecretary.
Over the next twenty four hours several things happened that changed the course of the Wizarding World, and affected everyone in some way, shape, or form. The first thing that happened was an immediate order went out that recalled all of the protections on werewolves. The previous job, housing, and health care security bill was considered to be null and void now. In the same breath, The Order of the Phoenix was named a terrorist group. To make a point, Alastor Moody and Suri Shacklebolt were taken into custody and put into Azkaban without so much as a hearing.
With the high of winning coursing through their veins, the Death Eaters were emboldened. Two in particular made a lasting impact the night of the election. Both Peter Pettigrew and Sebastian McKinnon were believed to be a part of The Order of the Phoenix, and both of them showed their true colors as soon as Rodolphus won the Minister’s seat. Peter was less aggressive in his approach, but he was boastful about it. There was a sense of pride that came with having his name dropped in Rodolphus’ speech as someone that made it all possible. Peter had known this day was coming, had distanced himself from his pervious friends that night, and waited for the day he could gloat to them at all he had accomplished.
Sebastian McKinnon was less subtle. His anger at one James Potter had finally hit its tipping point, and with the high of winning till coursing through his veins, he attempted the assassination that he had planned on attempting all along. However, Marlene had caught wind of the plot before he could follow through with it, and had intercepted him before he could complete it. Putting her in St. Mungo’s instead was a decent enough consolation prize, but it only renewed his anger at his original target.
Before the night was through, the Wizarding World had shifted into a sense of darkness, and that this was only the beginning. When the sun rose the next morning, Lily Evans watched it from Marlene’s hospital room, not having slept a wink. Twenty four hours and the world had changed for the worst, with The Order of the Phoenix in shambles. Lily made the executive decision to gather the people closest to her that she thought could be trusted and would be willing to help. They would meet the next day and decide what to do from there.
Only forty eight hours since the election, and yet, no one in the Wizarding World was unchanged.
Alright lovely Lux Aurora Members, our first event is here! The point of this first event is for our players to figure out how their characters are processing the news of the election and the events that have lead up to it. Characters in support of the Death Eaters will very likely be celebrating openly and waiting to hear what their next move is now that they’ve won. Meanwhile, characters that were previous in the Order are probably reeling from the shift in power. Any character listed on the main page as being apart of the Order of the Phoenix can safely assume that they were contacted by Lily and asked to join that meeting. As for neutral characters, they are still feeling the affects of the election and the new orders, even if it doesn’t affect them directly.
