just kiss already guys
"So, do you guys have everything?" Vera asked. "We're not forgetting something...?" She couldn't help but feel a little sad that her baby sister was moving out. Only Viola wasn't a baby anymore, of course. Sometimes, Vera wondered how long it had been since her much younger sister had been allowed to actually be the little sister of them. Had she ever asked for Vera's support in anything? She couldn't remember. What if Vera had been too busy with her own life to even notice?
"If we've left something behind, we'll just swing by and get it later, okay? We're just moving down the hill. It's a five-minute drive." Viola said. "I know, I know," Vera mumbled, trying to force a smile. This was a big day for her sister. She shouldn't let her selfish sadness spoil the mood. Apparently, she wasn't trying hard enough, though, as Viola replied with a grin. "Oh, don't look so sad, Vera. We'll still see each other all the time." "I know, I'm sorry." Vera offered a more genuine smile this time. "I'll just miss having you around, that's all." "I'll miss having all of you around, too. I'll make sure to visit often, unlike our dear brother." She rolled her eyes. Vera laughed. "They're still getting used to being parents. Let's cut them some slack."
Vera's birthday party
"Luz? Luuuz? Where are you? You won't believe what just happened."
"I thought you had that family thing today," Luz muttered. "You can't just show up like this." "Aw, come on, Luz. Don't be like that now. Are your parents home?" "No." "Great, because there’s something that I need to tell you. Just hear me out, okay? You’ll really want to hear this, but you have to promise not to tell anyone."
Luz listened as Viola told her about what she had overheard, and to her satisfaction, she was gasping at the exact right moments and asking the exact right questions. "You think Wilson cheated on her?" "I don't know," Viola replied. "I don't think so? My sister seemed way too chill after that lady left. I think she would have hurt at least one of them if he had, or at least yelled at them." "But that lady is definitely pregnant with Wilson's baby?" "That's what I heard." "Oh, poor Vera," Luz sighed. "Yeah... uhm, so things might be a bit awkward at home right now..." She glanced at her girlfriend, giving her an innocent smile. "And I mean, now that I'm already here... I might as well stay, right? You said your parents were out. We'd have the whole couch to ourselves. We could maybe cuddle alone and watch a movie that doesn't suck for once?"
"Hmmm," Luz teased. "Luuuuz. Don't be like that."
some random moments :)
"Mum...?" There was a loud gasp. "No no no no. MUM. No." Vera cried. "Not today... Not today.”
Emelie could hear her daughters crying. She could see the fear in their eyes as the Grim Reaper appeared before them. She watched them all in silence - not because she didn't want to speak, but because she couldn't. She wished she could have offered them some comforting words before she parted. She wished... She looked around the room.
Chris.
He wasn't there. Maybe he was still out running errands. She closed her eyes, picturing his face. She had been lucky enough to see it every day for the last few decades, and yet, in this moment, there was nothing she wanted more than to see his face one last time.
"Oh no. Dad," Vera whimpered, as if she had read her mother's mind. "He's not here. He needs to be here..." Emelie watched her eldest daughter as she started speaking frantically directly to her. "Mum. If you can hear me. Please, hold out. I'll call Chris. I'll call him right now. But you have to stay right here. You have to wait for him. Please. I can't stand the thought of..." Her voice trailed off, and the last part came out as a whisper. "You have to say goodbye to Chris."
