The "one thing on Dennis' mind" in Sunny s15e02 that ends up flunking all of his dates... I'd love it to be Mac-related as some people have posited on here... but I think it's going to be cancel culture. Because the gang's self-made Lethal Weapon movies are being banned by the local library.

So I imagine this ep will be a drag on all the white middle-aged men who drone on and on about impingements on their freedom of speech, political correctness gone mad, etc. and who generally overegg the significance of cancel culture in their lives.

Going into leak territory now, but doesn't one of the women end up in bed with him? I think Dennis does look good in that pov shot of him sitting on his bed, certainly not as red-faced and gross as previous "sex scenes". But he also looks kinda sinister to me. (Maybe it's just the lighting/pov aspect but his eyebrows look evil?!)

Anyway that pov shot made me think of the daiquiri man scene in the Gang Goes To Hell, where he tries to chat up the girl on the boat and she freaks out. So I wonder if it's going to be a similar thing - the girl who goes home with him regrets it/realises he's an ass and bolts.

But who's to say! Of course I'd love it to be more related to Mac. I'd be happy to be wrong tbh.

lw7 theorizing post

ok so we got a couple of moments here that raise some flags for me (notice mac wearing the same shirt)

we got production equipment in the back and they’re enthusiastically fist bumping a couple of official-looking black guys. my friend suggested the first guy looks like he could possibly be danny glover who is an actor in lethal weapon. here is a picture of him

then we have this bit from the beginning of the trailer where they’re wearing the same clothes and dennis says “we have to listen to the youth”

“or else we are doomed to have sex with only old people.”

sooooooo now begins my official theorizing ramble which is not at all carefully thought out- it is simply me having thoughts. thank you.

the fact that dennis is insisting they listen to the youths is encouraging! bc we know the youths would tell them that blackface isn’t okay. they could be referring to something else but since i’m 99.99% convinced this is from the lw7 episode i’m p sure it’s blackface he’s referring to. he’s using a bullshit reason and i’m interested to see how that ties in. dennis is a liar so he could be manipulating them i see that as likely but i’m not sure what his motivation for that would be. we know dennis has been on the “blackface is bad” side of things but i doubt he’d be particularly passionate abt it. we’ll just have to see.

their solution to their local library issue is to make a new lw movie obviously. but i’m not sure where it rly goes from there. it’s possible they either a) hire black actors to play black roles this time or b) get approval from black people to do blackface.

i’m gonna stop here to point out that i’m simply trying to decide if rcg is doubling down or if they’re going to make fun of themselves. based on what dennis said abt listening to youths and the look on the second guys face (he seems to be judging them and/or is wary of their intentions) i’m leaning more towards them recognizing their mistakes, which is wild and almost feels too good to be true.

so. idk. i would say that i just wish they’d leave this in the past and move on from it, but if they’re actually taking an episode to address what they’ve done wrong and make fun of themselves i’d be very welcoming to that, as long as they don’t make light of it too much. chances seem slim that they’ll pull it off well and tastefully, but i’m honestly willing to hear them out. i’m not writing them off yet, i have to see the episode first.

would love to know others’ thoughts on this.

i had a premonition while i was laying awake last night that the gang gets cancelled will go smthn like this

liberals start frequenting the bar and complaining abt the gang’s offensive banter

spearheaded by dennis, the gang attempts to get cancelled by everybody so that they have a “safe space” where they can say/do whatever they want

outside in front of paddy’s they have a “cancel-off” competition and try to be as problematic as possible

i would describe what each of the gang does but you know exactly what they do don’t you?

just. all the most offensive out of touch horrible problematic shit that rcgm can think of all piled together at once as a huge Fuck You

but it’s framed like the gang is in the wrong and the liberals are reasonable to dislike them so it’s okay guys

they get cancelled. only racist conservatives come to their bar now. they love it until they start coming for mac and dennis for being gay and dee for being a woman and charlie for being autistic they love frank tho

they see the error of their ways only because they are now the victims and issue a shitty public apology also paddy’s has a twitter account

it ends with them swapping harmful jokes and saying slurs after they pat themselves on the back for learning such an important lesson
