See, I agree that the fandom needs to do something about its image. And I can completely understand wanting to disavow the creeps. But I really don't think a rebranding is going to do it. Say you start calling yourself 'Pony Pals.' What does that actually change? Do you really think that Bronies won't pick up the name as well, or that it won't get attached to Bronydom as a whole? Also, I hate to say it but 'pony pal' a little bit creepy. But at the same time, I think this dialogue is important.
okay I don't know why people seem to think that we're trying to take bronies as a whole and convert them into this new thing
and honestly I don't care about the image of the fandom as a whole and I don't care to try to change it
all I want to be able to do is find the kind of MLP fans I used to talk to/hang out with during the beginning of S1 before things got terrifying and I stopped wanting to associate with most of the so-called "bronies"
I don't care about transforming the fandom
I just want a way to find the fans of the show who aren't racist/sexist/transphobic/islamaphobic/pedophiles/douchebags
like this isn't about fixing bronies, this is about us being able to find the segments of bronies that we personally still want to associate with, ya dig?
and man the name is unimportant the important thing is just that i be able to talk about MLP with the people who have stopped calling themselves bronies out of shame
bronies as a fandom can do whatever
i just want to talk about MLP, man
