Closed Starter for Lycantantt
Jupiter was home after everything that had happened only two months ago. She was happy to be among her family again but she was living two lives. Before, she had just been another girl in Chicago trying to figure out her life. Despite what the Abrasax siblings believed, she was still that girl. It was clear she was not the usual entitled and she would always be different from them.
She had been having bad dreams. She dreamed of harvesting and of the events that had transpired on the planet Jupiter. She had tried to keep them from Caine but she wasn’t sleeping. When he asked what was wrong it didn’t take much pushing for her to talk about it.
In time things seemed to settle and Jupiter’s dreams lessened. But Jupiter still hadn’t dealt with the fact she couldn’t live two lives forever. Caine hadn’t met her family yet and they always met where they could be alone. But wasn’t this their home now? She loved Caine and couldn’t expect him to hide in the shadows forever. Jupiter didn’t know what to do and she wasn’t going to get a chance to figure it out.
A communication came to Stinger and he brought it to Caine. Trouble was stirring in the Imperium. Someone had tainted regenex. The idea was disturbing. This was the very thing Stinger and Caine would have been sent to investigate in the old days. “They tracked down some smugglers who had stolen a large cargo of regenex. The skyjackers were unable to apprehend them, but they got the regenex. They only tainted some of the vials. It is a distraction I think, but the damn Aegis don’t know anything more. There is more. They want to talk to Jupiter about what happened on the planet Jupiter. She has to go back to Orus”. Caine would know that Jupiter would not be happy, but she had little choice.
She had said things about playing God and then said some things about how it was wrong to grow slaves. Not sure if she had insulted Caine she immediately apologized and with a reluctance agreed to go. At least this time she had time to come up with an excuse why she would be away so her family wouldn’t be worried.
She had said little on the ship. She had been taken to the Aegis’s docks where security met them. There were sanctions against the Balem’s estates and Titus. Titus was here on Orus answering for his crimes. Now with the Legion and Aegis focusing on the tainted regenex it was likely Titus would just get a slap on the wrist. Stinger had come with them but left them as soon as they were on Orus, going to talk to his old contacts.
She had been escorted to a large meeting room that stood empty for now. The security team left Jupiter and Caine alone while they waited. At the end of the room was a large window showing the hazy planet below. Jupiter stood in front of it with her arms crossed looking down at the strange world. That mysterious place was the true birthplace of humans. Many thoughts and questions crossed her mind but she said little.
There was a quiet hum to the room about them as the ventilation was forced to pump in and out. There was a small seating area and a large rectangular table with chairs in the middle of the room.
