"You don't remember, do you?"

"I don't remember some weasley beenpole? No. What do you want?" Lydia could usually be found in a tavern after a job, nursing a mug of ale to help nurse whatever new wounds she had just patched up. She didn't much like clerics, and healing potions certainly had their uses, but if she could limp away from a fight, she could take the time to heal without interference.

"Who are you?"

Better Steer Clear

Lydia, despite the pain that radiated from her sprained ankle, was light on her feet as she snuck back in to the little shack, eyes flicking this way and that always on the lookout for any sign of her father. Lucky for her, she’d long since memorized which floorboards were squeaky and which hinges might give her away. 

Her bag of goods was held tightly in her arms, all to minimize the amount of noise that came from her. She didn’t want to risk her father’s legendary anger. It wasn’t always bad, but when he snapped... She was still feeling pain from the last time, and she couldn’t risk it happening again. She was doing great at keeping silent, but when a misplaced piece of rubble made it underneath her foot, her weakened ankle rolled, sending her toppling on to the ground with a whimpered:

“Fuck.“

"I think if you wanted to kill me, you'd have done it already."

"There's still time..." Lydia threatened, another dagger spin infront of Fox's face to show off a little. She continued to pace, thoroughly annoyed, spinning a dagger lazily on occasion, a sign of thought.

"What are you doing here? Do you wanna get killed?"

“I think I look stupid.” 

Lydia couldn’t deny that Kadyn’s work had solved her problems. At least with tripping over the gown. But the face that she was in a gown-- a white gown in the first place was beyond her.

“I should never have agreed to this stupid party. I look like a meringue.” She spoke through gritted teeth, not even offering so much as a thank you for Kadyn’s work. 

“C’mon let’s go get drunk before I see someone I know.”

“How about making me vice president in charge of cheering you up?” (for Lydia)

"That implies there's a president that you know about." Lydia scowled. Did Lux know Julia? Maybe. She was always into... people. Socializing. Making friends. Lydia and her adopted sister were nothing alike. And it was Lydia who felt so out of place at home. Her parents and Julia possessed magic, making it look easy. Lydia possessed no such skill.

Still, Lydia was almost out of money and paying her tab was the last thing on her mind...

"How about you buy me another drink?"

“How much do I gotta pay to make you that corpse, asswipe? Get your damn hands off me, cleric.”

She’d been drinking pretty steadily for those two hours and her reflexes were slow enough that she didn’t react entirely when hands were put on her and pulled away the cup in the first place. Not that they were posing much of a thread.

But the fact that Lydia was told not only to stop drinking but by a fucking cleric... that steamed her pretty good.

“The city looks different at night.”

“Yeah. You see alright?” Lydia nodded, curious as to how good her vision was. She was sure Elaina had some elf in her, apart from the human. And Lydia didn’t want to assume she could see better than she could. Assuming got you into ass heaps of trouble. Her own saying. 

She paused, biting her lip for a moment, “Oh. Were you ...waxing poetic or something?”

Lydia growled through gritted teeth, watching the guards file out into the street closer to their hideout in the alley. She grabbed Charlie’s hand, pulling her further down the alleyway, deeper into the more seedy part of town.
