Rookanis Week - Coffee/Tea/Hot Chocolate

Someone just stated that they don't get what all the fuss is about, coffee is coffee. The audacity.

Both Lydia and Lucanis are coffee nerds in every universe. This one is from Mafia AU we're doing with @woundedsoul12. Lydia and Lucanis are enjoying their midday cup of coffee, talking about different roasts and brewing methods. They're from two very different teams - Lydia is the drip girly while Lucanis is espresso fanatic. So, you know, discussions can get heated pretty quickly. And here comes Riley, who really doesn't care about all of this stuff, coffee needs to be hot and strong. In this moment they both don't know if their love for the dumbass is enough to let his outrageous comment slide.

Rookfest Day 4: Alternative Universes

This is something that was brewing in my head for a long time, it started with just an art idea. I decided that @rookfest is the best occasion to finally do it. More of the modern AU!

It came out waaaaaaay longer than I planned, but once I started to put more Rooks it kind of snowballed. I do hope that I managed to portray your Rooks well 😅

Yay, Spite Week! I've got a few things already done but I don't know if I'll be able to do something for every day. For me it's more Spite x Rook week (I blame vintage couples photo references I've been digging through lately).

Lucanis was stupid. Spite felt his heart flutter every time Rook was nearby, but he left her alone that day in the pantry, hurt and confused, and avoided her even though he yearned for her company. He didn’t listen to Spite's reasoning, pleading, tempting, or threatening him; he made sure not to stay alone with her in one room. And Spite didn’t like to be refused. He liked Rook, she was Nice and Kind, she was not afraid of him, she was Patient when answering his questions. She even got him The Gift, a notebook of his own, where he could write without Lucanis scowling at him. She promised she would teach him how to draw one day, and he believed her, because unlike Lucanis, she was keeping her promises. Lucanis was stupid thinking that Spite would hurt Rook (which was even more infuriating because Lucanis was the one hurting her!). So Spite took matters into his own hands. He made an agreement with Rook that he will come to her instead of trying to leave the Lighthouse when taking the reins of the body. Lucanis reprimanded him, telling him to stop pestering Rook, but Spite knew better - he was just jealous that Spite got to spend time with Rook while Lucanis was adamant on being stupid. And Spite, being spiteful, ensured to tell Lucanis about everything once he was finally up: what Rook did, what Rook said, how she smelled like, what she wore, that she squeezed his hand when he made her laugh, that she cared about them even though Lucanis is so stupid. Rook agreed to read for him tonight (unlike Lucanis, she was answering all his questions when he didn’t understand why something happened in the book) and didn’t protest for too long when he laid down with his head on her lap (she was once again worried that Lucanis might not tolerate it but only sighed when Spite told her that Lucanis is stupid and he always wants but never does). This time, Spite was quiet while listening to her voice. He felt that over time, Rook was relaxing; she even put her hand on his head. She raked her hand through Lucanis’ hair and started to scratch his head absentmindedly. He remembered that she often did this to small creatures living in Treviso and Minrathous and that Rook was happy when they started making strange little noises then (and Lucanis always smiled at the sight). He understood the little creatures now. It was Nice. He felt Safe and Cherished. It made him feel a strange warmth in Lucanis’s chest. So he started to purr to show Rook that he liked it, hoping that it would make her happy. She stilled her hand and stopped reading mid-sentence, making him worry that he did something wrong. ”Don’t. Stop.” he murmured, nuzzling her thigh. "Please?" She didn’t say anything, but after a while she resumed both reading and combing her fingers through Lucanis’ hair. It wasn’t Fade, no, nothing was the same as it was before Ossuary. But Spite felt that this might be what Home feels like and purred even louder.

I still don't know if colouring it was a good choice but it looked a bit illegible in a sketch form.

Spite Week Day 4

Curiosity/Compassion

Spite and the physical world didn’t work together well at first. He didn’t like that he couldn’t change things just because he wanted them to change. He didn’t like that some things could be changed easily, while others needed work, and some wouldn’t budge, even if he tried very hard. But in time, his irritation was slowly replaced by curiosity, so he started to observe how others were shaping the reality around them. One day, the sounds of giggles and easy banter he heard through the pantry door piqued his interest. He went through the door (Lucanis was sitting on a cot, reading and ignoring his pleading to go out and join) to check what was going on. The scene before him was curious. He saw Rook sitting on the floor, brushing Bellara’s long, silky hair. Harding was sitting on the sofa, her fingers working through Rook’s hair, changing it. He was wondering why some hair changed (like Neve’s was sometimes long and loose and sometimes pinned up) and some didn’t. So he perched on the table and observed. Rook squinted and stared into the place he occupied, so he waved his arms. She, like the others, couldn’t see or hear him, but she worked on it, and she could now sense where he was and sometimes even see his aura. She smiled in his direction. He beamed at her, proud that she was willing to go to extra lengths to acknowledge him. Rook and the others seemed to enjoy themselves. They were talking and laughing, clearly relaxed. Spite moved closer to have a better look at what Harding was doing. Maybe he could learn and one day change Rook’s hair, so he would make her laugh?
