So I feel like the prime options for Glissa and Slobad at this point are:
1) they’re both still on New Phyrexia, once again isolated on a plane of orphans and phyrexians, but now even more without the option of leaving via their soul traps (nice that they are together and alive, but purgatorial in how they’d sorta be back to the place they were at the end of Fifth Dawn)
Or 2), they got off-plane during the larger invasion and ended up on whatever plane Lume is on (Sunseeker sibling reunion let’s gooooooooo)
Also while there's still story left I do still desperately need Glissa to find her way to Lume and her sister and (gods willing if they're still alive) Bruenna and Raksha and Dwugget before they decide to axe her too
Thinking about whether New Phyrexia still uses the goblin names for the moons, and getting a little sad over the thought that Phyrexian! Glissa might have gotten all the other factions to keep calling the green sun Lyese
Lyese wiped her brow with a towel after finally stepping away from the forge, satisfied with how her work was coming along. She rarely took work like this, her blacksmithing skills were mostly used to help out with her tasks as an engineer. Still, if a request came in from a friend or a benefactor every once in a blue moon, she took it all the same.
She was alone in her workshop, her apprentices away on a trip to visit distant relations. The lack of conversation didn’t bother her much, there was no time for idle chatter and lack of attention or something might explode in your face... an experience Lyese knew firsthand. A quick glance at her prosthetic left arm was all the reminder she needed.
Her ears twitched at the tingling of the bells, someone just entered the front area of her shop. Making sure her goggles were in place, Lyese took a breath and left to meet the new potential customer.
“Welcome at Sparks’ Engineering, how can I help you?” The usual greeting escaped lips, her gaze on the woman who entered. She was using a cane to help her walk, wore what the engineer assumed to be a full-leg brace base don the glimpses she caught thanks to the split of the other elf’s skirt, a silver halfmask covering the right side of her face. Even more, the lady was obviously pregnant and showing, yet she came alone. The engineer’s goggles luckily hid her eye widening in suprise.
“Good afternoon. I’m looking for a certain Lyese Brightspring. Am I right in assuming you’re her?” The sin’dorei woman asked as she limped closer, her walking stick clicking on the floor. “I was looking for an engineer and an acquaintance suggested you’re the best she knows.”
Lyese nodded. “Yeah, it’s me all right, and thank you for the compliment. Though I have to warn you in advance, you would have to wait about a month and a half before I can start working on your order, should we come to an agreement in the first place.” Her face was impassive, this was business now. “What would you have me make exactly, lady...?
“That is an acceptable timeframe.” The other elf confirmed with a quick nod. “My name is Serena. Serena Brightspring. What I’d like you to make is a walking stick.” She smiled at the engineer’s raised eyebrow. “You see, I was a ranger before and I find myself in need of something I can stil leasily handle one-handed, should the need ever arise. Like a cane than can be turned into a crossbow, for example.” She paused, trying to read Lyese’s expression on the idea. “Can you make anything of the like?”
“Interesting... I think it is plausible, but I’ll need to talk with an expert who makes crossbows first before I can give you a definite answer. A gun I could agree on more easily, as I made something similar before, but not a crossbow. I expect I could give you a proper answer in about a week, if that is agreeable.”
“If it’s a week, then a week.” Serena tapped a finger to her mask. “I’d prefer the crossbow, but if only the gun is doable, then we will talk about that next time. Thank you for your time, Lyese. See you soon.”
“In a week.” The engineer nodded, watching Serena depart. A crossbow that can be disguised and used as a walking stick, huh? It was a new challenge, and Lyese always liked challenges.
“You might be right.” Lyese frowned as she looked at the bleeding cut on her forearm, though her goggles made it difficult to tell. “I thought I was careful enough when I crawled inside the frame. Thank you for pointing it out, I didn’t notice it was that bad, just a scratch.”
“I actually overslept on Monday. For engineer with no time to spare, it meant my schedule turned upside down and couldn’t finish the prototype I’m working on. It will have to wait until next week I’m afraid.” Lyese lamented with a sigh.
