It’s possible that he’s the least well adjusted of his siblings, which is saying a lot what with Wei Wuxian right there, and explains more than a couple of things about Jin Ling.

He can’t get Jin Guangyao’s words out of his head.
If he’d only believed in Wei Wuxian, if he’d only been willing to stand up for him, could it all have been avoided?

Summary: He can’t get Jin Guangyao’s words out of his head.
If he’d only believed in Wei Wuxian, if he’d only been willing to stand up for him, could it all have been avoided?

Note from submitter: this fic is just the epitome of a fix-it it is just so so so good. and it's ShanaStoryteller, so what do you expect, but still. love love love
Okay look, look, I know okay. I know my editing skills are shit, I know. BUT. I was rereading @shanastoryteller’s incredible Lynchpin and this was all I could think about on Chapter 9.
I read a lot of fanfics. Like, a lot. I currently have over 50 email notification for updated fanfics because I follow too many to be able to read them at the rate they’re updating.
But I just have to take a break from reading (and working, shh) to mention Lynchpin, a fic of The Untamed by @shanastoryteller whose last chapter contains one of the best sibling interaction I’ve read in a while, because I am still laughing about it 20 minutes later.
(Spoiler for Chap 7 of Lynchpin under the cut, btw)
Lan Wangji doesn’t answer.
Instead he leans down, tilts his head to the side, and kisses Wei Wuxian, firmly and without a second’s hesitation.
Wei Wuxian does nothing for a moment, his eyes wide, but then he’s pushing himself up and wrapping his arms around Lan Wangji’s neck so he can deepen this kiss and press them even closer together.
Which is very nice and romantic for them. But.
“I’m right here!” Jiang Cheng shrieks and then Nie Mingjue is leaning almost on top of him as he doubles over in laughter. “I will throw up on you both, I really will, I swear I will!”
They break apart and Lan Wangji is smiling, a dazed look in his eyes that Jiang Cheng could have lived his whole life without seeing.
“Jiang Cheng,” Wei Wuxian says, his cheeks flushed and lips swollen, and uhg, this is the worst, this is hell. “As soon as I can stand up, I’m going to strangle you.”
I just. Jiang Cheng, horrified at his older brother getting kissed (and kissing back) in front of him. Nie Mingjue dying of laughter. Wei Wuxian dazedly threatening his little brother. Jiang Cheng’s terribly entertaining inner thoughts. The catharthic shift from stress and fear to laughter and outrage. The image of Jiang Cheng, half-covered in blood from Nie Mingjue leaning on him, shrieking in outraged little brother horror, in the middle of the forest, breaking up the super emotional scene between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji.
I am fully convinced Vox Machina would fall apart without Vex. She is the lynchpin of the group in my opinion. Like she’s the centre and is the glue of these crazy adventurers.
Nie Huaisang had come up with a different solution to the problem. It, predictably, involves shoving Wei Wuxian in the middle of a mess with the hope that he’ll fix it.
The effectiveness of this particular tactic is probably why Nie Huaisang had employed it so often.
Jiang Cheng is irritated at how well this stupidity works (chp. 5)
