Writing basics:
Chroniclers have only 24 letters, split evenly among consonants and vowels. Some sounds do not translate well to their language (such as most noises denoted by the letter "a"), while others are all grouped together under one umbrella letter (such as k, c, q, and x).
Their writing is typically written mirrored (having two thumbs on each hand makes this easy). Anything not written in this symmetrical fashion is seen as incomplete and therefore not accepted as fact.
All names in Chronicler have equal numbers of consonants and vowels. In the second photo, you can see Lyophi's name as it would write it. There is also "Freedom" rewritten as "Iphiidom", which Lyophi rebelliously referred to Esca as in all of its reports.
(The "Ph" character is reserved for special Chroniclers who are born with extra wings. It's similar to a lordly title.)
Onto sentences!
Chroniclers originally wrote on their large scales, and still will. However, they are now more likely to have "scrolls", or thin wooden semicircles connected by chains to write on.
Four lines divide the shape into fifths. Each fifth is reserved for a part of the sentence, with the words written on the tree rings. It is a matter of preference how to place duplicate words in a single part (like when you have two subjects performing the same action), but typically the word to the right of the punctuation will be the one on the furthest tree ring.
Punctuation is based on which color is most prevalent when the Chronicler begins their writing. This is signified by an open dot on the line corresponding to the 6 main colors: Infra-red, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple, Ultraviolet. This is mainly useful for telling what time of day or where this occurred. Having no punctuation insinuates the sentence being only overheard or written after the fact. These are dismissed as hearsay and discarded.
Chronicling events is a source of utmost pride. All strive to have their scrolls kept safe on their home planet for future generations to read. As such, words like "smudge" or "illegible" are low level swears. Higher taboo swears revolve around outright lying.
