Send a  👫 and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muses’ relationship    ⸺    ACCEPTING   !  ! 

Like  a  solid  ₆₅%  of  their  relationship  consists  of  Lyre  getting  herself  into  some  kind  of  trouble  whether  it’s  due  to  her  mouth  or  her  actions    & &    Ludger  almost  always  swoops  in  to  save  her  ass  with  some  kind  of  intelligent  cover  story  .    & &    when  that  fails  he  just  gives  her  an  affirmative  nod    & &    starts  nailing  her  assailants  with  arrows  alongside  her  assistance  .  But  he  grabs  her  by  the  sides  of  the  arms    & &    is  just  like  look  as  unendingly  witty    & &    clever  as  I  am  I  CANNOT  keep  pulling  incredible  scenarios  out  of  my  ass  to  save  yours  have  you  thought  about  using  that  mouth  for  something  a  little  more  productive  ?  I  don’t  care  if  it’s  to  play  an  instrument  (  what  a  hypocrit  honestly  your  mouth  pisses  everyone  off  Ludger  .  Well  ,  half  the  time  anyway  )  .

It’s  a  big  flaw  in  Ludger’s  character  ,  but  being  raised  in  a  noble  household  made  him  ignorant  of  prejudice  .  Unlike  his  siblings  he  doesn’t  necessarily  use  slurs  since  he  spent  a  majority  of  his  life  mingling  in  the  lowertown  ,  but  the  terms  ❛  knife-ear  ❜    & &    ❛  rabbit-ear  ❜  don’t  gain  much  reaction  from  him  .  Still  ,  that  tends  to  change  when  he  makes  friends  with  elven  companions  ,    & &    I  have  a  feeling  that  when  he  becomes  more  attached  to  Lyre  there’ll  be  a  couple  of  choice  people  he  might  go  have  a  polite  talk  with  in  private  (  which  I  love  because  Ludger  rarely  likes  to  get  his  hands  dirty  )  .

Also  Ludger  lifting  her  onto  a  horse  because  she’s  SO  FUCKING  SHORT  I’m  dead

Lyre  trying  to  get  him  to  pet  a  nug    & &    Ludger  absolutely  refusing  because  he  doesn’t  do  pets  or  animals  ,  they’re  filthy  .  I  think  his  only  exception  for  animals  is  groomed  horses  .  Anyway  ,  he  begrudgingly  relents  after  a  long  while  because  there’s  an  aproximately  four-foot  tall  girl  asking  him  to  pet  a  nug  he’s  a  prissy  noble  not  an  abomination  .

Starter Call! || Accepting

By the time the party had completed its arduous treck up the mountan night had well and truly fallen, the snow growing steadily heavier as time went on, but in his nook in the library Atreion paid it no mind, all his attention on the courtyard below. They were late. The scouts had told of their coming this morning, but that was before the snows began to fall. One hour had become two, then three, until the entire day had passed and Atreion, fed up of idle fretting in his quarters, had made a lookout spot of Dorian’s favourite nook. He would apologise for messing up his cushion placement tomorrow, but for now-----

There! Just was he was seriously starting to consider calling the garrison (as if keeping vigil wasn’t overkill enough), the swaying of lantern lights down below. He didn’t wait, hastening down the stairs and across the castle to the massive front doors - doors that were already open, letting in a gaggle of shivering scouts and a familiar pale face.

“ Lethallin! ” The relief was so swift it almost made him feel lightheaded, sweeping her chilly body into a hug without a thought for who might be watching. “ By Mythal, did you hike the whole wya through this storm? You’re freezing! ”

         ❝ I’m well aware of our height difference, Mir’Ghilan, but you can’t expect me to just sit around and let you do everything. I’m not afraid to look like a foolish Dalish elf if it means I get to punch a random recruit who insults you. I don’t have patience for boys who only want to kill and don’t know respect… ❞

            The younger elf was sporting a freshly bruised eye and busted lip, yet the pain would not stop her from grinning coyly. Lyre was never one to start fights, yet when it came to Atreion she would do just about anything. Knife-ear, the name absolutely boiled her blood in a way few things else could. Most of the world saw Atreion as the Inquisitor, a man who demanded respect, but there were still those who saw only his ears or the tattoos upon his skin. They would never be free of the judgement. ❝ I’m sure he’s pretty embarrassed that he got beat up by the Inquisitor’s tiny companion. ❞

             Atreion clucked his tongue, setting a basin down at her elbow with a slosh of water and steam. “ My dear, you are many things: sweet, brave, and utterly without concern for your own safety, but a foolish Dalish elf is not one of them. ” He took up a muslin cloth left swimming in the water, twisting it between his fingers to drain it. “ But you must know that if you’re going to go around punching everyone that means me ill, you’re going to lose in the end. I’m a big boy, Lyre, I can handle it just fine. ”

           But honestly, for all his scolding, Atreion could not have been prouder of his da’sulahn. She had always been a spirited sort, inquisitive and quick-witted and just so proud of her heritage - and never had it shone more brightly than it had today. Those ugly words - short, sharp things that stuck like slime - had barely left his mouth before Lyre had been upon him, forcing them back in with her fists and shrill admonishments. It hadn’t been entirely one-sided, but judging by the whispers in the barracks, it might as well have been. Still, he made no move to say this aloud, instead bringing up his cloth to dab carefully at the split in her lip. “ Oh, I’m sure he’ll have worse to come. Commander Cullen looked ready to explode when I told him. No doubt he’ll ask for your side of it soon enough. ”

Hawke was surprised upon meeting the Inquisitor. Varric said she was young but it was an entirely different thing to see her in person. Perhaps it was natural for elves to look younger than their age? Being short might do that, but the Inquisitor still looked young and it reminded her of her siblings before all this mess had started. 

Maker, that felt like a lifetime ago. 

“Aside from the knee-deep in demons business, this can’t be easy on you. How did you end up at the Conclave, if you don’t mind me asking. I didn’t think elves from the city would be interested in attending.” Or capable of going. Of course, she was only guessing as the Inquisitor lacked vallaslin and she had spent a good bit of time learning about the Dalish from Merrill.
