Right-o.
From the 13th to the 21st of this month I do not expect myself to be on much. For one, I got my operation on the 14th, and two recovery. During that time, I will not have any of my usual queue going, and everything will come to a stand still.
So, I will try to give updates either from discord or on here, but I honestly don’t know how it’s going to go. So, it’s all up in the air.
vstiges:
❝ Yeah ? ❞ There’s always those, and what a shame it is. If there had been more questions, maybe those in power would falter, she’d like to believe anyway. Loyal hounds, yet it’s be an insult to mabari to call them such. She keeps her lips sealed, comments cut off from escaping the confines of her head. The commander knows better, in the midst of this chaos and rage, to act as a warden should. ❝ Must be killing you. ❞ Literally. How long can the average templar last without it ? She wonders, slowly drifting between thoughts. ❝ If you’re no longer ‘so loyal’ to your comrades … Would you be willing to part with some information ? I can make it worthwhile ❞ He just needs to tell her what his currency was, coin or lyrium dust.
If it was just detoxing from regular lyrium, he wouldn’t have that much of a problem. Alex knew from experience that if you looked hard enough, you could get your hands on lyrium by back channels. Sure, they were illegal by all standards, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
However, in his case, it was the corrupted sort, and that brought on new challenges. Slipping up could mean a fate worse than death. He already was living on borrowed time and it was going to come to a close. It didn’t matter what sort of lyrium he used, ❝ All the men I worked with are dead. ❞ Well, he hoped they were dead, or at least close enough to that state of being.
Eli:
his kind had always been stubborn. walls of iron that could not be pushed about and refused unless there was a syringe of lyrium dangling before them on a string. ultimately the champion was no different; the fact often brought up in jest, but he was all too aware of the truth behind it. still he remains of stone, his voice doesn’t waver with a kind of sympathetic emotion and eyes threaten to roll, ‘if you do not want it to pass then you do not let it. if you truly wanted to stop you would not have given up so easily,’
‘there is a difference between giving up and knowing the odds are impossible.’ he didn’t expect the champion to give comfort. why would he? alex was a RED templar. one, who still had the corrupted lyrium on his person. that was something that couldn’t be denied. not now and not five minutes from now. he still was dependent on the substance.
a reason to why he reached into his small bag. it was a risk, but one he was willing to take. to show the other just how far he was going to go. if it mean another year or two alive, if it truly meant being able to break away, he would at least attempt again, but as per-usual, he always ended up falling back on the substance.
after-all, even as he pulled out a small vial. it wasn’t much of the corrupted substance, but it was easy enough to find. well, if he was truly desperate it was, ‘this is all i have left.’ a lie, he had more --- it just wasn’t on him, ‘soon, i will need more, and we go through it again.’
guardandshield:
A contradiction of words. It matched the contradiction of a city state. Tevinter buildings, Orlesian titles, Free Marcher attitudes, and through it all the iron grip of the Chantry and its Templars. Aveline bared teeth in a ham-fisted semblance of a smile. She was used to being not wanted, a small wonder being the only Fereldan in the city guard and rising quickly through the ranks forby. But wanted or not – she was needed. By Hawke. By the rest of her countrymen in this forsaken place.
“By your leave Ser,” she said gauntlet raising as stiff pointed fingers gestured him ahead. A lingering glance at the shield matching her own. “I have your rearguard.”
A nod was given in return. If this had been another Templar, they would have known how Alex was with these tasks. He went above and beyond the line of duty as that was how it suited him. Yet, she wasn’t part of the Templars, and it was why he had to be a bit more careful.
A reason to why he was planning to make this a simple question and answer mission. No chasing down odd leads. No spending hours tracking down the Apostates. Not fighting. No blood.
“Understood.” He said, already making his way forward, “This should be simple, but Mages can always make things difficult.”
amelliscd:
Amell raised her eyebrows at the man as he spoke, and she let out a sound from the back of her throat. Almost a laugh. ❝ Really? What does it do to people? ❞
She could almost hear the voice in the back of her head. ‘Stop sassing the Templars. You’re a Warden, not a Circle Mage.”
But, gee, some of them needed it. ❝ I haven’t had magic my entire life, or anything. I’m completely oblivious to the horrors it can bring into a person’s world. ❞
There was a perpetual roll of his eyes at her words. Alex may have been beyond a Templar now, but he still fell back on what he was taught. For good or ill it was part of him and there was no denying that little fact.
However, this wasn’t the time for lectures on theory of magic. Let alone from a former - on most days - Templar, “Are you now? Not everyone believes what happened in Kirkwall, but I was there. I know what Magic does to people.... Mages and Non-mages alike.”
“…Doesn’t matter? What else could matter more?” Aghast at the Templar’s words, Fenris simply stared at him a moment, lips parted in shock. “It seems as though anyone with any benevolence at all would do better. Assigning guilt without proof or even justification beyond this insane witch hunt… when do you expect this to end? You’ve moved beyond your chosen prey to any that stand in your path. Or even to those that do not. Eventually there will be none left at all, and you will rule but a kingdom of bones.”
“--- And what would an Elf know about a kingdom of bones?” He was being far more rude than he should have been. After-all, if Alex would have stopped to think about matters logically, he would have realized that over half of his actions were completely wrong, “I hunt down Mages as they are dangerous. Anyone who’s helped them is just as guilty as the mages themselves.”
Me: I want Alex to actually be put on trial for his crimes. Alex: I hate you. Me: I mean, not just being a Red Templar, but all the shit he’s pulled before the Conclave. Alex: No. Me: I also want Alex to deal with the realities of the corruption. Alex: I hate you.
i spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about what my inquisitor would be like as a companion who never got the mark so here’s an ask meme inspired by that:
1. If not for the Conclave, what would drive your character to join the Inquisition? 2. How would they meet the Inquisitor? 3. What would some of their cutscenes look like? 4. What would their romance route look like? Would they be romancable? 5. If they romanced someone as Inquisitor, would they still fall for that person as a companion? How would that play out? How would they react to that person being romanced by the “new” Inquisitor? 6. Write some of their party banter (in reaction to major events, scenery dialogue, or just shitting around. Askers can specify for which character/event, or leave it up to the writer). 7. What would be on their tombstone in the fade (what is their greatest fear)? 8. What kind of Inquisitor would drive them to leave the Inquisition/confront them about their actions (what gets their approval low? what does that scene look like)? 9. Where in Skyhold would they be found? (e.g. Cole is in the tavern rafters, Leliana in the top of the tower, Varric in the throne room, etc.) 10. If Inquisition operated like DA:O, what would their gift items be? What would their approval and disapproval Feast Day items be? 11. How would they grow as a person? How would they compare at the end of the Inquisition as a companion to who they were as the Inquisitor? 12. Do they believe the Herald of Andraste is really the Herald of Andraste? 13. If the Herald didn’t have them tag along to prep the trebuchets, what would they do during the battle for Haven? (bonus: would they join in on the impromptu Dawn Will Come choir practice in the camp?) 14. What nickname does Varric give them? 15. Without the influence of their decisions for the Inquisition, which of the companions do they get along with? Which ones do they bicker with? 16. What would the Fear Demon say to them in the Fade to try and discourage them? 17. Where do they hang out in the Winter Palace? What’s their thoughts on the nobles/The Game? 18. What’s their reaction to a dragon showing up? 19. Once Corypheus is beaten, what do they do during the party? Do they stay with the Inquisition, or go somewhere else? What could the Inquisitor do to convince them to stay? 20. How do they react to learning abominations can retain their consciousness and identity, and even live peacefully with their spirits/demons, as seen in Stone-Bear Hold? 21. What do they think of the discoveries made in the Deep Roads? Do they make any comments on anything? 22. If you have another Inquisitor, how would those two get along, specifically? 23. In trespasser, what “gift” would they give the Inquisitor, if any? 24. What are their plans for after the Exalted Council? Will the Inquisition staying in tact or being disbanded make a difference? 25. In the alternate reality, if they were corrupted with lyrium, how do they act? What’s their attitude about the end of the world/their inevitable death?
And even if you have the point of a knife at your throat, give them a smirk.
pelle-lavellan:
“I–I’m aware, and I apologize.” Said Pelle.
Pelle used to be like most mages, detesting templars under accusation of them abusing mages and usurping power they did not have to put others where they deemed their place to be. Being with the Inquisition however, had changed this.
He would be a liar to say he had completely forgiven the templars for the way they treated other mages, for the way they even treated him when he struggled to get to Fereldan and had endured even more ridicule from the order after arriving in Fereldan as well.
Meeting Cullen hadn’t shifted his opinion of the order as a whole but–it did make him think twice about judging a templar on individual ground. They were given orders and trained to follow them explicitly, could he really condemn all of them individually for such a thing?
“I may disagree with–” who was he kidding? Disagree was putting it midly. “okay more like strongly loathe your order and the way it believes that it is standing for some kind of greater justice however, I imagine refusing to obey orders wasn’t taken with a simple ‘okay’ either.”
“Before the breach, things were different, but after.... everything changed.” It wasn’t simply tracking down mages. Nor, was it dragging them back to the Circle, but as the war brewed on.... it was quite clear that nothing was going back to normal.
Whatever the Mages hoped for had become twisted and more resorted to blood magic. It was something that couldn’t be prevented. Not when Alex knew from personal experience that most Mages, if given a chance, would fall back on blood magic.
“Not that I minded at first --- it was nice to start moving towards a goal. Even more so when it would end the fighting, but no. It wasn’t.” Alex wasn’t about to go into detail about what happened. It was far too personal and on some days... he thought he deserved it, “Templars don’t disobey orders.”
Rather, it was they didn’t disobey them as their lyrium supply was more than likely revoked. If that happened, they would start showing signs of withdrawl, and that... for most Templars was a fate far worse than death. At least in Alex’s own mind, but back then.... it was just lyrium, and not the corrupted kind.
The best part about walking up is waking up healthy and alive !!!
“You got me there.”
The best part of waking up is not waking up in the Circle and being free to actually enjoy mornings
“You could ENJOY your mornings more... if you were with me.” And yes, Alex did say that with a straight face.
the best part of waking up is red lyrium in your cup.

holykniight:
he speaks so casually about problems that have plagued him for years and the champion finds himself in a vague discomfort. he looks away for a moment his gaze wandering to find the marks and the veins of his abuse, hidden well under layers of armour and the tender loving and care from his lovely harellan (at least someone was going to look after him… it was never going to be himself) and yet still, he sees it. he FEELS it crawling under the skin and he wished it would leave him; but he is not one of the lucky ones. the RED that ridded him of his eye almost ruined him… the blue will never cease, not for a long time, ‘it is easier yes, but not the desired result, hm? you need to keep trying…’
‘easier said than done.’ he knew there was a problem. it wasn’t just with his attitude before the RED LYRIUM, but rather it was with everything else. he could go on for days about why he should have SAYED his hand sooner, but there was no point in it now. not when alex personally knew that there was no way to make up for his actions, ‘i already know my fate. i just hope it doesn’t come to pass.’
