Red: 5 facts about my bestfriend(s).

Thank you! I’ll include more than one best friend here :)

The first time I met one of them, we were with some common friends and we were too shy to talk to each other until one day we were left alone. I was thinking the lumps in her ponytail were annoying and she was thinking I looked like a preppy bitch. It’s now been a good 20 years that we’re friends!

The first time I met that other one of them, we were just role playing partners. We were just thinking about each other as a “role playing” tool. But eventually we found out we had a lot in common and vowed to be best friends forever. Up to now, we’ve been friends for a bit more that 15 years, we call each other sisters and I’m her daughter’s godmother!

The first time I met this friend, we were seeing each other a lot at a local university’s anime screening and we hung out indirectly together with our common friends a lot before we actually really started talking. And it was after he had won a price at a game organized by the anime club. I had given some of my fan comics (doujin) as one of the prizes he won and we finally started to address each other. At first, we both didn’t know we both spoke french so we spoke in english until the bag got out of the cat :P We now are friends for a good 10 years and we’ve been roommate for 4 years!!

This friend now, I met her first online on a yahoo mailing list! It was a Xellos x Zelgadis mailing list and at first I had join it innocently thinking it was a list for fans of Xellos and fans of Zelgadis (I later learnt what yaoi meant). I didn’t know at first she was a girl, I was thinking she was a he. Then I learned she lived in the same country as I (Canada), then I learned that in fact she was living in Quebec, about 45 minutes from where I was living. We organized to see each other in the bigger city of Montreal. She had planned to bring her yaoi and hentai doujinshi of Xellos and Zelgadis and Team Rocket to show me. At first I was still a frickin’ prude so when she showed them to me, I barely looked at the hentai one about Team Rocket and I didn’t look at the one with Xellos and Zelgadis, back then, I had nothing with gay love, I just wasn’t ready to see it and I was also not ready to see characters I always defaulted as hetero being gay… ^^;

This last friend broke the awkward feelings I had about yaoi by telling me those words of wisdom: “One hot bishonen is good, Two hot bishonen is better.” Also at first, we didn’t get to talk much to each other, we were both shy and apparently I was scaring her, but in the end we worked it out and now we’re enjoying ourselves in yaoi feels and bishonen harems, and it’s been like that for a good 10 years.

So yeah, moral of this story, the most awkward beginning make the best long lasting friendships! :D
