i used to get a stomachache whenever you’d walk past and i will be deadly honest with you i loved the way it felt i saw you and forgot to hate myself but i grew to realize how empty you made me feel and it took walking away looking at you from a distance to realize how i hated  my reflection in your eyes now i get a stomachache whenever i see myself in them i can’t believe in us anymore i’m sorry

bare feet on the empty foundation of a house. there will be walls here, someday, but they find it hard to picture what could come. empty roads and fallen trees. a silver necklace that they always wear. staring into the distance at the blur of the horizon. the feel of a smooth pebble on their fingertips. there is something deeper within them then what is expected. so maybe, just maybe, someone will come and bring it out. or maybe it will remain hidden for eternity.

The Slip

I wrapped Alice in chains- begged her to sing a lullaby. I wanted, so badly to hear them again- the tremendous musings of a heroin addled Angel. I stuck my hope into that ragged vein and felt the slip. I could taste the notes falling from her lips. Fumes like ether in a crowded room. But, I was alone. I had nothing, but the music that promised that my pain was alive enough to dream on its own. -James Kelley 2016
