It was one of those nights when Will was almost glad for his insomnia, as these essays he had to grade were longer than he expected. Honestly, one would expect an instructor to know how these things would turn out, but it still surprised him regardless. With a glass of whiskey on his desk and a few of his canines snuggles around his legs, he was trying to focus, until he heard the creak of the floorboards in the hallway. “You should be in bed, it’s a school night. Everything okay?”

“What happened?” he’s never seen him this down before. A couple of times sure but nothing like this. Kneeling down he helped him up wrapping an arm around him and letting him lean against him. “Come on I’ll take you back to your room.”

Will sighed rubbing the back of his neck. He felt for his friend. He really did. He’d heard what had happened from Becky and he couldn’t believe it. It was hard to even imagine. “I know you are...” he said putting his hand on his shoulder squeezing it. “I know. “ he swallowed. “I..i think you should avoid them for a while. beck’s talked to Garrett....he’s not going to get over this.”

“Yeah,” said Becky, glancing at him over her shoulder. “Sometimes that happens when you’ve got a bounty on your head. But I’m pretty sure I’m prepared for whatever’s coming. Scarlet Ambrose doesn’t scare me.” She snickered. “Her name sounds like a brand of sweater.”

She turned the corner down an alley and gestured for Will to follow. “Come on, love, let’s go make a shady transaction.”

It wasn’t scarlet that scared him. It was what happened if she or his father got caught on their scent. Which they both had spent plenty of time avoiding. It was why they were here to begin with. 

“well...okay it does but-” and now she was out. 

Giving a sigh he hiked his coat collars up to cover his face before he went after her. “Hey will you just...” he sighed before reaching over to grab her hand and stopping her. “does it have to be now?” he said in a hushed tone. “it would be less of a risk to us if we have someone else or wait till the polyjuice potion is finished.”
