Venti (Companion)

✤ — Hm~? What's this all of a sudden, this interest in my pretty star? Ehe, assume all you want about our relationship, isn't it quite a thrill to solve?

[Name]'s been with me for so long, I've lost count on the suns and moons we spent together. Lately, however, I feel like she's slipping away... or is it me? I can't quite remember...

Oh—yes, I'm aware of our transient bond, such a tragic tale, don't you think? Hehe, though I deny it with the fiber of my being...

Venti

✤ — Ah, [Name]? Isn't she the lady the Traveler brought by in the Teapot sometime ago? She's an intriguing person, I must say.

I once saw her nearby when I was playing the lyre. Isn't she a little odd? Sometimes it seems like she wants to say something but doesn't proceed to.

Hm? Oh, no, I haven't seen her ever since. Actually, our only conversation was when she came to say goodbye. I wasn't hearing things, was I?

She called me Barbatos—then Venti.

I know her story, and- ah? After my journey is over... no, that won't happen. Forgetting, I mean.

I won't bring nor cause her pain.

At the end of my travels, she will not be forgotten. I believe in myself—after all, I am not from this world. Whatever Teyvat has in store, I will not submit to it.

[Name] is of the stars, if need be.. if she wishes to, I will take her with me past this world.

✤ — Universe: Astrolabe ✤ — Concept: The bard whose dream reached the sky is more than welcomed in the stars. ✤ — Characters: Nameless Bard (Zephyrus)

The fall of Old Mondstadt has been foreseen by the beings of the stars. All the prayers ask of valor and strength amidst their tribulation, implying the nearing distance of a rebellion to come.

It's a sad narrative, truly.

Decarabian raised those walls of turbulent winds solely because of the harsh winter outside his Kingdom. In a way, he is doing it as a means to safeguard the place—but his people wished for freedom.

Seeing eye to eye in a place like this truly is a rarity.

Often, the aftermath of the bloodshed... is upsetting.

In the middle of a battlefield—a victorious battle being the result—a bard whose chest is stained with crimson stands, his figure is blanketed in the stars as if he's become the sky itself.

Amid those in triumph and those in lamentation, he spots an otherworldly figure, cloaked in the same array of stars—if not more ethereal. He knows her from the tales fellow bards have sung.

"Goddess [Name],"

The deity who preserves spirits within the stars themselves, and the one lighting the constellations of the ambitious. The verses he's heard doesn't do her beauty justice.

"Zephyrus," the lady's voice sounds like it's accompanied by the echo of a choir as she hovers her hand over his chest, still stained with red. "Your death along with many others has opened a new chapter for those of Mondstadt."

The bard turns his gaze to his fallen body in the arms of Amos, with a wind spirit he's befriended weeping upon the woman's shoulder.

It is a devastating sight.

At least, until the Goddess gently tips his chin up, and his eyes are then bare to the open sky. It is beautiful... just as he imagined it would be.

Seeing birds take flight, now without gales and tempests to hinder them in their journey—oh how it brought tears, relief and sheer bliss.

"Come, sweetling," he looks at the Goddess' open hand, and to her calming smile.

"To the stars you too will be free."

A/N: This was before the Archon War took place (aka before Astrolabe!MC lost her power and became weak/forgotten), so she is at her prime. Zephyr refers to her as 'Goddess' since MC then was still revered :'))

hii so i decided to put myself thru some crispy angst by rereading ur astrolabe series again, and i was thinking what wouldve been aether & scara's pov when the deity faded and they suddenly remember everything?

Mm yes, astrolabe, as one of my readers said in Ao3; the universe where the MC is an emotionally attached genie. DHAJKDHASJKDHAJKDHAS

Now, yes, as seen in Venti's piece (I think it was Stellar-) MC can only be remembered when she dies, because then, there'd be no use in not remembering who she is when she's already dead :V

Aether would have been already out of Teyvat with Lumine by the time he recalls MC and oh dear, he would just stop.

The memories will come surging as if he's submerged underwater, just waves and waves and waves of memories coming like no tomorrow.

He will be absolutely devastated. He'll be heartbroken but he won't exactly cry. He'll just feel so awful because like everyone else, he promised not to forget MC but he still did.

It's been implied through his ficlets that Aether harbors subdued romantic feelings for MC, overshadowed by the priority of finding Lumine.

So suddenly recalling her when he's gone, when she's gone, will just break him apart.

In the end, he fulfilled his promise of not forgetting her, only it's far little too late.

Scaramouche, ah yes, the original keeper of the astrolabe. We all see the way he almost broke apart when he recalled traces of who MC was at 'star-seeker', but if he fully becomes aware?

Oh goodness gracious, the poor man.

He will be so livid at himself and whoever, whatever controls fate. It's an infuriating thing and he makes sure he curses it at least once a day- no jesting-

MC was the missing person he had been looking for, and he only later realized why he couldn't find her. It's all because of stupid, stupid fate.

He'll take to trying to find the astrolabe. An impossible thing, 'cause he doesn't know if it still exists, but he does it anyway. From a different angle, it's his way of trying to redeem himself for forgetting her; chasing after a being that no longer exists.

He will move on with time because his questions were finally answered, but he won't be the same. He'll flinch at the mention of stars and if someone sees his eyes being glassy, they'd think they're seeing things.

But they're not.
