Would any of you like to join a book club for M. L. Rio’s novel, “If We Were Villains”?
Booksforthoughts August BPC Day 12: Thank you for being a friend
*distant sobbing in the background*
JFC people, go and read If We Were Villains!!!!
Because I seriously need to discuss this ASAP!!!!! It’s the type of the book which makes you want to choke the author. The type of book you know how it ends and it does UNTIL the author throws a bombshell and you just sit there, mouth open and go: YESSSSSS!!!
“Were you in love with him?”
“Yes,” I say simply. “Yes, I was.” It’s not the whole truth. The whole truth is, I’m in love with him still.
"We were always surrounded by books and words and poetry, all the fierce passions of the world bound in leather and vellum." M.L.Rio
Had a productive day at the library today and feeling uncharacteristically good about myself at the moment.
The future is wide and wild and full of promise, but it is precarious, too. Seize on every opportunity that comes your way and cling to it, lest it be washed back out to sea.
If We Were Villains, M. L. Rio
as much as im a sucker for the aesthetic of dark academia, we must remember that it not all of classics. our perception of elitist groups and flowery language is the outer front of classics students, there is more to us then just this. we study art. that is what we love, what we swear by. whether it is poetry, or prose, or philosophy or history, we become art. we are art, not just the aesthetic of it.
