hi i bet you forgot you sent this. i also forgot you sent this. but apparently i still have a document with a really, really rough draft on it!
so, considering it is yuri day!!! i cleaned it up. presenting: the beginning of a hsy/ysa boss/intern (mentor/mentee?) au.
In a sea of professionally-dressed office workers, Han Sooyoung stands out. This is not a good thing.
Yoo Sangah thinks of the effort she put into her own clothes, carefully making sure that all the wrinkles were ironed smooth, making sure the fabric hung just so -- and then compares it with the woman standing in front of her.
If Yoo Sangah came into the office wearing a slightly-ragged t-shirt and jeans combo, she’s pretty sure she’d be immediately fired. This appears not to be the case for Han Sooyoung, who is -- stubbornly -- apparently! -- still employed. And in fact...
“You’re my mentor, Han Sooyoung-ssi?"
Han Sooyoung shrugs. “Sure,” she says, talking around a lollipop in her mouth. “For now. Your actual mentor took an unexpected two week sabbatical, so you’re stuck with me.”
“...I see,” Yoo Sangah says. She resolves to think positively about this. People don’t boil down to their first impressions. Just because she doesn’t find Han Sooyoung impressive right now doesn’t mean that Han Sooyoung wouldn’t be a great mentor.
So she’s disappointed to find out that Han Sooyoung actually isn’t a great mentor.
Part of the reason appears to be that Han Sooyoung isn’t even part of the HR department. Yoo Sangah isn’t sure what Han Sooyoung actually does, but whatever it is, she’s high up enough to have her own office, and whenever Yoo Sangah visits, she seems to be busy doing... whatever she’s doing. Too busy to check up on Yoo Sangah, or talk to her, or even look at her.
That can’t really be true, no matter how much it feels like it. Han Sooyoung has to be paying at least some attention, because otherwise Yoo Sangah wouldn’t be getting any new assignments. Yoo Sangah works through them, and Han Sooyoung assigns more, and that’s the entirety of their relationship.
Well. No, actually. Han Sooyoung also tells Yoo Sangah to get coffee.
Yoo Sangah tells herself this is fine. This is normal. Interns get coffee for their bosses all the time, like in all the dramas she’s watched. If she wonders what’s the point of her degree -- if she thinks, more than once, that this is beneath her – well, it’s not like it’s any different from how life is at home.
One morning, she wanders into Han Sooyoung’s office and finds that Han Sooyoung is not actually working. Han Sooyoung is face-down on her keyboard. There is an energy drink on the desk, half full. It sits next to a pile of energy drinks, all empty.
Han Sooyoung looks a little pitiful like this. Yoo Sangah feels a little bad. Then she remembers exactly how Han Sooyoung has been treating her this entire time and feels less bad. Instead, she contemplates drawing a mustache on Han Sooyoung’s face. There is a pen right there.
Tragically, Yoo Sangah is pretty sure there is also a security camera right there.
Resigned, Yoo Sangah decides to shift Han Sooyoung off the keyboard. This has the benefit of stopping whatever document Han Sooyoung is working on from being endlessly filled with whatever characters her forehead felt the need to forever transcribe. She wonders, briefly, if it’s worth it to clean up the hangul that Han Sooyoung definitely didn’t mean to type.
It’s not. Still, Yoo Sangah gets a good look at the document.
Yoo Sangah had assumed it was some kind of business or PR strategy, but upon looking at the document for longer than a second, it’s clear that it’s absolutely not that. The format is wrong. There are dialogue boxes and everything. This, Yoo Sangah realizes, is a story.
…sort of a graphic story, actually.
It’s porn.
This... has to be a workplace violation of some kind, surely.
anyway apparently it was from this ask game who knew
but Javier has never needed to be good at seducing anyone. The power of the main character halo imbues him with supernatural hotness and draws everyone to him whatever he does. (Without it he would definitely suck at the actual practice tho lol.)
i know he's never had to be good at it. he doesn't need to. but you don't get me. i wanna see this man be so terrible at flirting so bad. i need to see him going at it with the confidence of a guy who has never ever been bad at anything in his entire life only to trip with his own shoelaces and fall flat on his face before he can even get one word in. i need him to approach the situation with the experience of someone who's never had to do anything but look at the general direction of a person to make them fall for him. i need him to make the earnest effort of a man who was never an awkward high-schooler confessing to his crush voice cracks and everything.
and most of all i need him to try to woo the one man in the world who does not care for his main character energy ( •̀ ω •́ )
i wanted to listen to bad decision blues again but soundcloud just "oops we couldn't find that track" me... 😭
oh what noooo that sucks! it still works on my end, so i'm not sure what's going on.... here's the link if that helps! https://soundcloud.com/clarionglass/bad-decision-blues
@m1sosazai replied to your post “This is an invitation. Please talk about ceruledge...”:
Please tell me he's not getting on the trains with this lack of rest 😭
don't worry, he'll be just fine!! He can always ask someone else to drive for him, if he really needs to. That way he can just focus on battling!
...although, people have been saying his battling style has become more aggressive as of late. He brushed it off, but even Emmet commented on it recently. He's not sure what he's talking about. He's fine. He's battling like usual. Everything is fine.
it is not that I hate becky chambers specifically, to be clear; it is that I hate the subgenre/type of storytelling that becky chambers typifies.
it's not like she's done anything wrong or ~problematic~ or whatever, it's the far worse crime of writing things that I find extremely annoying and representative of a wider trend that actively repels me.
I'm picturing a future where so many ppl have been killed in the bog that there are no more materials to do the spirit resurrection method lol
you joke but that is very much a thing that lythe is worried about. lythe is very much worried about the fact that sometimes the materials AREN'T returned to the cycle
