Cosmic was never one so fond of zoos. The sight of locked up animals lazing about seemed to rub her fur the wrong way as human children would stand and gawk... But, as luck would have it, the local zoo was having a celebration — A party of sorts for some holiday or other. And where there were parties, there was bound to be food. She was willing to sneak about and snag anything from hungry hands.
She stopped, though, when she crept to one enclosure that seemed small. A feline-ish shape laid not too far, seeming rather depressed and almost sickly. Cautiously, she approached.
“Are you alright?” She couldn’t help but ask.

Shelter. That’s her goal for tonight, anyway. Worn and cracked paw pads lead the dog to limp a bit as she traverses the plane, tail gently swishing out behind her. She wouldn’t argue to a bit of water, either. She’s parched.
Her tongue swipes across her jowls several times as she comes to a halt at the light of a building. She approaches, playing up her best “oh, look how hurt I am” as she sits at the door and cries pitifully, sure to keep a forepaw to the air in favoring. She’s willing to tolerate the idea of coming close to someone out of desperation... But the idea of whole capture doesn’t appeal to her. Perhaps too close and she’ll bolt away into the darkness.

The task of surviving isn’t unfamiliar to her. The downright scheming, however... She’ll admit, she’s not all too expertised in.
As the collie spots someone rounding the corner with a tasty, fresh morsel of food, her maw can’t help but water. But how can she acquire it?
A cursory glance around, and she falls in, creeping closer. A simple trip, grab, and run will do, she’s deciding. Suddenly, the canine explodes forward to try and knock the person’s feet right out from under them.

“Merry Christmas, Cosmic.”
Charlie licks her cheek, blushing lightly, and smiles. “Hope this Christmas is a good one for ya.”

Though she isn't sure precisely yet how she feels about this display of affection, though in a certain sense it does feel nice to be so cared for. The holidays were often a grim reminder of the things she has lost in her past life, but here... Now, well... She just feels really special.
"Thank you, Charlie." She murmurs, taking a chance in snuggling close. "Merry Christmas to you, too."
“Hey, uh, Cosmic… I just wanted to tell ya… I think I have feelings for you. I mean- I haven’t known ya very long, I know, but…”
Charlie put his paw gently on hers. “…if you’re willin’ to give it a shot, then… maybe we can see where this goes?”

Cosmic tried to stifle the small gasp that slipped loose from her muzzle, taken aback by the gesture. She had initially been teasing about what she'd perceived as romantic advances, but hadn't actually expected anything serious. Faced with it now, she was unsure of herself.
She'd never had much of a romantic life, after all. She had been a pet, then a secluded stray. Her nightlife consisted of either lying next to a human or being coddled only by the moonlight above or a street lamp. This was something foreign entirely, no matter how she tried to play it cool. In a way, it spooked her. Yet, something about it was intriguing. Exciting. She couldn't tell if she felt the same way, but the notion was enthusing enough.
"I-" Instinctively, she pulled her paw away, only to immediately feel guilt for the action. Was that rude? Could it be seen as rejection?
"I- Yes! Okay... Sure." She replied, hint of embarrassment evident in her voice as her tail thumped against the ground.
