Equinox celebrations 🖤
Lit a black candle dressed in snake skin to celebrate the changing season and, hopefully, a changing self. As it burns, I wish to reduce my darkest side to ashes and surrender it to the heavy September rains.
The snake, ancient symbol of transformation, death, and rebirth, sheds its skin to grow, just as I long to shed mine. It teaches us to embrace cycles, to descend into shadow, and to rise again, renewed, wilder, and more whole: that is what I long to be.
To the threshold guardian, torch-bearer of the night, Hekate, I give thanks.
For your silent presence at the crossroads, for the light you offer when the path disappears, and for reminding me that what is shed is not lost, but transmuted.
This modest Deipnon is for you, goddess of the serpent and the moon, midwife of transformation, she who watches over the shedding of old skins.
