Tug Christian 2 sank on Maas #maas #tugboat #sank

The 22 meter long tug Christian 2 sank on the Maas River near Stevensweert, Netherlands. The Christian 2 was pushing a gravel barge when it began to list when it attempted to make a turn. The tug suffered water ingress and the vessel eventually sank.  No reports of injuries. Reports state the tug had released a small amount of oil pollution when it sank. Owners…

DE ROTTERDAM , by Rem Koolhaas & OMA

De Rotterdam is the name of the last work of Rem Koolhaas and OMA , one of the biggest names in international architecture scene.

The building, which has transformed the appearance of the characteristic skyline of the Dutch port city , is designed as a city within the city and consists of three connected towers and a total of 160,000 m² distributed in offices, apartments, hotel , conference rooms, restaurants, shops and a gym.

The towers are part of an ambitious remodeling project of Wilhelminapier old port , next to Erasmus Bridge and along the Maas river, and its goal is to turn the district into a vibrant urban activity area combining retail, office, housing and leisure.

The building sits on the equivalent of a football field and with its 60,000 m² of offices and 240 apartments will become the most densely populated part of the Netherlands.

 Sustainability is an important asset of the building project and aims to be one of the greenest building in the country. All offices have the A energy rating producing most of the energy they need by solar panels on the roof  and nine wind turbines.

The building cooling and heating uses water of the Maas river.
