It was a peaceful morning. Mathias had woken up to the sun peaking through the windows of the room. He squinted, trying to wake up, when his vision was filled by the man sleeping beside him. It was rare that Mathias woke up before Gabriel, the latter being an early bird who always went on a morning walk before Mathias woke up. However, looking at the vampire beside him, Mathias couldn't find himself complaining. He took this quiet moment to admire his husband.

Gabriel's black hair shined like a crow feathers. His face was laxed and soft, with his lips parted as his soft snores filled the room. Mathias' hand comes up and cups his cheek, with those two cute moles he adored, and rubs it with his thumb. He was proud that Gabriel managed to sleep more recently, especially since their move from the big city, to the mountainside cabin.

Mathias knew that the rest of the Belmonts were going to be visiting in two days, to stay for the birthday week of both Victor and his son Andrew, so they both needed to get up to prepare soon. But he couldn't. The blankets around them were soft and warm. The room was filled with the soft glow of the sun, warming Mathias' face. He presses a soft kiss on Gabriel's forehead and holds him tighter to him.

He never thought he'd find love again after Elisabetha. Mathias chuckled at the memory of Leon forcing him to shower and get ready for a company party, something about, "Getting out would be good for your health". Of course he didn't want to, but Mathias was glad he did. It led to him finding Gabriel and learning how to love again.

He felt the muscular arms of his vampire wrap around his waist and pull him closer. Mathias' smile never left his face, especially when Gabriel was being so cuddly this morning. The gold band on their fingers glittered in the sunlight together as Mathias fell back asleep. Happy and content with his husband and their life together.
