#mac v pc

So random question. Mac or PC? And why? I've been a PC user all of my life and I'm debating about getting a Mac. I'm trying to get various opinions from people on Tumblr. Thanks in advance! x

i grew up on PCs, building them with my dad back in the 90s when i was a teenager bc he loved to know how things worked, and enjoyed making sure he had the most up-to-date components on his (what would now be considered ancient) computer. but it was all state-of-the-art at the time; we had a 286, then a 386, a 486 and when we turned it into a Pentium everybody flipped shit because THE GRAPHICS lol.

much to my entire family’s dismay (they’re all PC gamers), i switched over to Mac 10 years ago and i have no intention of going back. for me, Mac is ideal, and it suits all my needs far better than PC. i’m more inclined towards photography, design, art, and fandom works - so mac suits me. for people who are more inclined towards gaming and programs, etc - i’d say go with a PC.

also take into account that while the media side of the world is more Mac-friendly (iPhones, iPads, iTunes, etc) - the business side is more heavily reliant on PC. 

* note, i should clarify that i’m aware how much cheaper a PC computer can be. this is supposing that the money isn’t a problem, since it wasn’t presented as one with the question.

Okay so really I could do a Google search on this but I figure you guyz are a reliable source:

So I'm currently a college student, right? I use my laptop for doing things for my classes (research, papers, online assignments, etc.), downloading and storing music, and, of course, tumblr/facebook/pinterest/etc./etc/etc., so I really need something that's good for those things.  I really don't use my computer a lot for much else besides social media and school, like games, and I'm not a huge techie that would need to have a bunch of software or be interested in like upgrading my computer (like hacking to make it better?  does that make sense?)

Another thing is that I'm HIGHLY susceptible to computer viruses.  I literally get them on the reg.  I don't find them, they find me.  That's why my current computer blows.  It's coming up on its third bday, and I've downloaded I think three viruses on it; it's been reformatted like two or three times.  And that's REALLY ANNOYING.  AND it's been in the shop three times, which is really expensive, and it's really slow now.

Also, my current laptop is a Gateway somethingorother.  Just a basic Gateway laptop.

Okay, so the question I'm posing is, based on this information, should I get a Mac (I'm looking at a 13" MacBook Pro) or a PC (I'm not looking at any in particular)?  Which one, and if you pick PC, please tell me which one!  I just want to get something that will be beneficial for my current needs, and Macs are hella expensive (even with my student discount whaddup) and I really don't want to spend that much money (or have my parents spend that much money) on a computer that really isn't much more beneficial than a PC would be.

Basically, which do you have?  Do you have a Mac that you love?  Or do you want to marry your PC?  Please tell me your suggestions in my ask or reply! PLEASE THIS IS SERIOUS

**I mean, the fact that Macs (from what I've read) are way less likely to get a virus and don't require as much maintenance or spyware in that area is really enough to sway me toward getting one...

In all seriousness though, if you're using a computer brand as a method of social identification then you're a child. The only person who cares that I own a Macbook is you, stop being a spastic.
