favorite meat animal is either domestic rabbits or muscovy ducks 🤔

rabbits are the absolute best meat animal (and almost every meat based meal ive eaten in the last seven months has been rabbit), and absolute best livestock. once you get a breed and genetic line that work well in your climate theyre Great-- ive not had an issue with my silver fox rabbits reacting poorly to dramatic changes in temp, unlike some of my friends more delicate breeds :-(

muscovy ducks ARE a very close second, though. theyre amusing free range animals. since they take so long to mature, i think we can get away with raising them on pasture/ bedtime rations without Additional Feeding (like we do with pekin ducks). basically all that means is that they can drink from the pasture pool and i wont have to keep them confined to a growout pen. once theyre mature they have a VERY nice dark meat, which i didnt realize how much i missed dark meat until id been eating nothing but rabbit for months on end ahaha. plus theyre super easy to butcher!

FAVORITE BREED OF TURKEY has got to be royal palm. i absolutely adore monochromatic animals (looking at my black and white chickens, and my black with white flecking rabbits, and the quail im breeding to get black and white individuals), and royal palms are very pretty. i have a royal palm jane (jenny? turkey terms are Weird) who im VERY excited to hatch out some eggs from. my blue slate is a tom and id love to see what a cross between my two fav breeds would look like
