The premiere issue of MacLife available on Google Books plays up its transformation from MacAddict, so I'm scanning in the cover of my own copy (which doesn't seem to have "sticker residue" on it). One how-to piece near the back of the magazine explained how to use Photoshop Elements or CS2 to improve your thoroughly crummy cell phone photos.

The one hundred and twenty-fifth and final issue of MacAddict included a preview of the magazine it would become next month. It also pointed to a variety of free software and, so far as a somewhat different definition of "freedom" had it, explained how to install Ubuntu on your PowerBook in a dual-booting configuration.

A buyer's guide for professional gear provided the cover story for this issue. In his editorial, Rik Myslewski proclaimed Steve Jobs could "change the world" again and burnish his image by providing the operating system for the Intel Classmate PC, meant to be an inexpensive computer for the developing world. He also mentioned that in two months, MacAddict would "evolve into Mac|Life".
