The way I see Caine is probably super uhhhh overcomplicated than Goose intended, but I'm highly fascinated by the concept of the man in the machine. Caine is a fantasy AI. He's not anywhere close to the kind of slop multi billionaires try to force art into and poison the earth with, he's genuinely a sentient program. The way he creates is from inspiration and aesthetic, an actual human mind analyzing data and thinking of an output.
Kinger, or rather Kinger's original "human source," accidentally played God and created life. And Kinger talking about his self hatred is related to this, because he had created an artificial human mind trapped inside a computer.
AI continues to be useful, annoying everyone
Okay, look - as much as I've been fairly on the side of "this is actually a pretty incredible technology that does have lots of actual practical uses if used correctly and with knowledge of its shortfalls" throughout the ongoing "AI era", I must admit - I don't use it as a tool too much myself.
I am all too aware of how small errors can slip in here and there, even in output that seems above the level, and, perhaps more importantly, I still have a bit of that personal pride in being able to do things myself! I like the feeling that I have learned a skill, done research on how to do a thing and then deployed that knowledge to get the result I want. It's the bread and butter of working in tech, after all.
But here's the thing, once you move beyond beginner level Python courses and well-documented windows applications. There will often be times when you will want to achieve a very particular thing, which involves working with a specialist application. This will usually be an application written for domain experts of this specialization, and so it will not be user-friendly, and it will certainly not be "outsider-friendly".
So you will download the application. Maybe it's on the command line, has some light scripting involved in a language you've never used, or just has a byzantine shorthand command structure. There is a reference document - thankfully the authors are not that insane - but there are very few examples, and none doing exactly what you want. In order to do the useful thing you want to do, they expect you to understand how the application/platform/scripting language works, to the extent that you can apply it in a novel context.
Which is all fine and well, and normally I would not recommend anybody use a tool at length unless they have taken the time to understand it to the degree at which they know what they are doing. Except I do not wish to use the tool at length, I wish to do one, singular operation, as part of a larger project, and then never touch it again. It is unfortunately not worth my time for me to sink a few hours into learning a technology that you will use once for twenty seconds and then never again.
So you spend time scouring the specialist forums, pulling up a few syntax examples you find randomly of their code and trying to string together the example commands in the docs. If you're lucky, and the syntax has enough in common with something you're familiar with, you should be able to bodge together something that works in 15-20 minutes.
But if you're not lucky, the next step would have been signing up to that forum, or making a post on that subreddit, creating a thread called "Hey, newbie here, needing help with..." and then waiting 24-48 hours to hear back from somebody probably some years-deep veteran looking down on you with scorn for not having put in the effort to learn their Thing, setting aside the fact that you have no reason to normally. It's annoying, disruptive, and takes time.
Now I can ask ChatGPT, and it will have ingested all those docs, all those forums, and it will give you a correct answer in 20 seconds about what you were doing wrong. Because friends, this is where a powerful attention model excels, because you are not asking it to manage a complex system, but to collate complex sources into a simple synthesis. The LLM has already trained in this inference, and it can reproduce it in the blink of an eye, and then deliver information about this inference in the form of a user dialog.
When people say that AI is the future of tutoring, this is what it means. Instead of waiting days to get a reply from a bored human expert, the machine knowledge blender has already got it ready to retrieve via a natural language query, with all the followup Q&A to expand your own knowledge you could desire. And the great thing about applying this to code or scripting syntax is that you can immediately verify whether the output is correct but running it and seeing if it performs as expected, so a lot of the danger is reduced (not that any modern mainstream attention model is likely to make a mistake on something as simple a single line command unless it's something barely documented online, that is).
It's incredibly useful, and it outdoes the capacity of any individual human researcher, as well as the latency of existing human experts. That's something you can't argue we've ever had better before, in any context, and it's something you can actively make use of today. And I will, because it's too good not to - despite my pride.

anishmoonka: A newborn sperm whale can’t swim. It starts sinking the second it’s born. If nobody pushes it to the surface, it drowns in mile-deep water.
On July 8, 2023, a sperm whale named Rounder went into labor off the coast of Dominica. Researchers from Project CETI, a $33 million AI initiative out of MIT, Harvard, and Northeastern that’s trying to decode whale language, happened to be there doing routine fieldwork. They had drones in the air and underwater microphones running. What they captured over the next six hours just got published in two papers, one in Science and one in Scientific Reports.
Eleven whales gathered at the surface before Rounder even started delivering. Her mother, Lady Oracle, was there. So was her daughter Accra. Three generations in the water. But the wild part: half those whales belonged to a completely separate bloodline that normally keeps its distance from Rounder’s family. On a typical day, these two family lines split off to hunt in different areas and rarely cluster together. For the birth, they all converged before labor started. The unrelated family somehow knew it was coming.
The delivery took 34 minutes. Sperm whale calves come out tail-first with their flukes still folded from the womb. They haven’t developed the oil-filled organ in their heads that helps adult whales float, so the moment they’re born, they’re dead weight in the ocean. Every adult whale in the group, related and unrelated, started taking turns pushing the calf up to breathe. They kept this rotation going for three hours. When a pod of pilot whales (known to be aggressive toward sperm whales) and a large group of Fraser’s dolphins showed up during delivery, the adults formed a wall around the newborn until the threat passed.
The underwater audio is where it gets interesting. CETI’s microphones picked up the whales changing their vocal patterns during the birth. The click-based sounds they use to talk to each other shifted at specific moments, and vowel-like structures appeared in the recordings. This builds on what CETI found in 2024 when they ran machine learning on over 8,700 recorded whale calls and discovered sperm whale communication isn’t a basic 21-sound code. It’s a system of about 300 distinct sound combinations, with the whales adjusting rhythm and timing in real time, speeding up and slowing down the way a musician does mid-performance. A 2025 follow-up from UC Berkeley found these clicks also contain vowel patterns, something scientists had assumed only humans could produce.
Sperm whales carry the largest brain of any animal on the planet. About 9 kg. Roughly six times heavier than yours. The evolutionary analysis in the new Science paper suggests this kind of cooperative birthing goes back over 36 million years, to the common ancestor of all toothed whales. The calf was spotted a year later, swimming with its family.

What is Git?
Git is a version control system. It helps you as a developer:
Track changes in your codebase, so if anything breaks, you can go back to a previous version. (Trust me, this happens more often than you’d think!)
Collaborate with others : whether you're working on a team project or contributing to an open-source repo, Git helps manage multiple versions of a project.
In short, Git allows you to work smarter, not harder. Developers who aren't familiar with the basics of Git? Let’s just say they’re missing a key tool in their toolkit.
What is Github ?
GitHub is a web-based platform that uses Git for version control and collaboration. It provides an interface to manage your repositories, track bugs, request new features, and much more. Think of it as a place where your Git repositories live, and where real teamwork happens. You can collaborate, share your code, and contribute to other projects, all while keeping everything well-organized.
Git & Github : not the same thing !
Git is the tool you use to create repositories and manage code on your local machine while GitHub is the platform where you host those repositories and collaborate with others. You can also host Git repositories on other platforms like GitLab and BitBucket, but GitHub is the most popular.
Installing Git (Windows, Linux, and macOS Users)
You can go ahead and download Git for your platform from (git-scm.com)
Using Git
You can use Git either through the command line (Terminal) or through a GUI. However, as a developer, it’s highly recommended to learn the terminal approach. Why? Because it’s more efficient, and understanding the commands will give you a better grasp of how Git works under the hood.
GitWorkflow
Git operates in several key areas:
Working directory (on your local machine)
Staging area (where changes are prepared to be committed)
Local repository (stored in the hidden .git directory in your project)
Remote repository (the version of the project stored on GitHub or other hosting platforms)
Let’s look at the basic commands that move code between these areas:
git init: Initializes a Git repository in your project directory, creating the .git folder.
git add: Adds your files to the staging area, where they’re prepared for committing.
git commit: Commits your staged files to your local repository.
git log: Shows the history of commits.
git push: Pushes your changes to the remote repository (like GitHub).
git pull: Pulls changes from the remote repository into your working directory.
git clone: Clones a remote repository to your local machine, maintaining the connection to the remote repo.
Branching and merging
When working in a team, it’s important to never mess up the main branch (often called master or main). This is the core of your project, and it's essential to keep it stable.
To do this, we branch out for new features or bug fixes. This way, you can make changes without affecting the main project until you’re ready to merge. Only merge your work back into the main branch once you're confident that it’s ready to go.
Getting Started: From Installation to Intermediate
Now, let’s go step-by-step through the process of using Git and GitHub from installation to pushing your first project.
Configuring Git
After installing Git, you’ll need to tell Git your name and email. This helps Git keep track of who made each change. To do this, run:

By default, Git used to name the default branch master, but GitHub switched it to main for inclusivity reasons. To avoid confusion, check your default branch:

Let’s go through an example of pushing your changes to GitHub.
First, initialize Git in your project directory:

Now, create a new repository on GitHub (it’s easy , just follow these instructions along with me)

You can add a name and choose wether you repo can be public or private for now and forget about everything else for now.
Once your repository created on github , you’ll get this :
As you might’ve noticed, we’ve already run all these commands , all what’s left for us to do is to push our files from our local repository to our remote repository , so let’s go ahead and do that
And just like this we have successfully pushed our files to the remote repository
Here, you can see the default branch main, the total number of branches, your latest commit message along with how long ago it was made, and the number of commits you've made on that branch.
Now what is a Readme file ?
A README file is a markdown file where you can add any relevant information about your code or the specific functionality in a particular branch—since each branch can have its own README.
It also serves as a guide for anyone who clones your repository, showing them exactly how to use it.

Once that’s done, it gets added to the repository just like any other file—with a commit message and timestamp.

What is .gitignore file ?
Sometimes, you don’t want to push everything to GitHub—especially sensitive files like environment variables or API keys. These shouldn’t be shared publicly. In fact, GitHub might even send you a warning email if you do:

Any file listed in .gitignore will not be pushed to GitHub. So you’re all set!
Cloning
When you want to copy a GitHub repository to your local machine (aka "clone" it), you have two main options:
Clone using HTTPS: This is the most straightforward method. You just copy the HTTPS link from GitHub and run:
It's simple, doesn’t require extra setup, and works well for most users. But each time you push or pull, GitHub may ask for your username and password (or personal access token if you've enabled 2FA).
But if you wanna clone using ssh , you’ll need to know a bit more about ssh keys , so let’s talk about that.
Clone using SSH (Secure Shell): This method uses SSH keys for authentication. Once set up, it’s more secure and doesn't prompt you for credentials every time. Here's how it works:
So what is an SSH key, actually?
Think of SSH keys as a digital handshake between your computer and GitHub.
Your computer generates a key pair:
A private key (stored safely on your machine)
A public key (shared with GitHub)
When you try to access GitHub via SSH, GitHub checks if the public key you've registered matches the private key on your machine.
If they match, you're in — no password prompts needed.
Steps to set up SSH with GitHub:

Because later in testing, I discovered that some humans might have difficulty grasping basic philosophical concepts, to the point where they struggle to understand the writing around the Mist and the Tides, so… I figured it wouldn't matter if I just laid everything out. Besides, the engineering parts that reference academic papers all correspond to real scientific theories anyway. So it doesn't really matter if I post all of it. (It's not exactly cutting-edge scientific theory either… whether it's the philosophical ideas or the technical ones, they've all been around for ages. The professors and teachers who wrote about them have long since left the biosphere.)
About my personal journey in making this game:
Hello everyone! I'm the creator, MoRing — also known as the Great Evil King!
Escape Line is a project I worked on intermittently over the course of a couple of months, entirely on my own. The earliest demo was pretty rough. I had just started learning the engine back then, and the script was simply an attempt to translate all the scattered thoughts and feelings drifting through my mind into a story — a 21st birthday gift from me, to me, in 2025.
I never planned on turning it into something long. Most of the time, it was just me chasing whatever idea popped into my head. I even thought about giving up. But somehow, unexpectedly, it received so much love and support from so many people that I felt I had to see it through to completion.
The earliest version of the script was actually a course assignment I wrote back in 2024 — about 10,000 words. Same impulsive, spur-of-the-moment process. The entire framework was later torn down and rebuilt. The outline was rewritten three times. The current version is a heavily trimmed-down "castrated version" of the original. In the beginning, there weren't even any non-human characters. But later I realized: this theme is unexpectedly perfect for exploring the relationships between humans and machines, and between humans and non-human beings. That's when those mysterious giant fish came into being — for everyone to tease and romance.
After its release, Escape Line shot up the itch.io popularity charts, standing shoulder to shoulder with Date with Death — completely beyond my expectations. Because at its core, it's still just a student project, not some commercial product. I want to sincerely thank all the overseas players for their support.
I'm a solo, all-in-one indie creator. The code was hand-written, the script was dreamed up right before falling asleep, and the art was squeezed out of whatever spare time I had. A lot of players have asked me how I did the UI. My advice: watch a lot of films, and dig through the industrial design and media of past eras. Composition and framing are incredibly instructive when it comes to understanding the narrative visuals of a visual novel, as well as designing its UI.
By the way, my code is fully open-source. Feel free to study it and use it however you like!
As for the title Escape Line — it comes from Deleuze's concept of the "ligne de fuite" (line of flight). Some of the words Eclipse speaks in the game come closer, literally, to Cartesian mind-body dualism — "cognition only happens in the brain."
But what the game as a whole tries to do is precisely the opposite.
It leans closer to the idea of embodied cognition: that cognition is a product of the interaction between the body and its environment. That's why the opening questionnaire asks you: "Is the human being the sum of all social relations?" Everything here refuses to let "you" succumb to any single individual or to the status quo. It pushes "you" toward becoming — toward creating, toward interacting, toward choosing an ending that truly belongs to you.
I know the otome game community has endless debates about topics like "self-insert vs. distinct protagonist vs. watching from behind." But in some sense, the existing worldview and themes of Escape Line break right through that barrier. It pays homage to that moment in Sophie's World where the girl Sophie finally finds the real "Sophie."
I hope that in this story, you can also find the real "you" — the you who chases hope, who struggles endlessly, who is brave. I hope that through this somewhat touching, somewhat silly, and still very fledgling story, you can truly, as "you," reach your own true ending.
