youtube is So dependent on people being willing to make things w zero outside help and also so fucking incompatible w people having any kind of boundaries, and like. i'm sure there was some other whatever internal reasons not to take any of dan's projects, but them pushing him to commit to posting on his own channel and putting his own money in and trotting him out all the time for """visibility"""" and """"pride" and and and and....... and then them being like :( ohhh no the numbers said you're shit :( oopsies :( is so just like. ugh!!!!! ugh!!!!!! the platform is built to be so shitty and unsustainable for a human being. i hate that anyone gets steamrolled by The Platform but especially someone who's tried so fucking hard for so long to make that toxic swamp into something cool
