They have magic powers, and is set in a magical land, so it's an AU I plan to build on if possible. Enjoy!
Ominous wind brought in dark clouds, turning the beautiful green rolling hills into a vision out of a nightmare.
Obito sat down on the side of the dirt road and waited. It might take a while, but he had nothing but time.
He pulled a flask of sweet nectarine wine from his sack, and pulled his hat tighter in his head.
The wind was picking up, murmuring ancient warnings into Obito’s ear. He stuck his finger in his ear, and pulled the cork out with his teeth.
It is said, the first gulp was the most bitter, but by the fifth one wouldn’t feel the betrayal of being tricked by the name.
Obito drank ten, but he still felt the sting. It clearly wasn't working. He dropped the flask.
He gripped the rim of his pointed hat, and glared in the direction of the wind. The icy shards were a new touch.
The frost bit into his skin, pulling on his scars. He smirked. "Are you trying to keep me away!?" Like that would work.
Obito shoved his hand into his pouch and pulled out a bento box packed to the brim with dango. It was just the right weather for a lovely picnic.
The wind abruptly stopped, the dark clouds parted, and on the spot illuminated by the sun stood a lone, hooded figure all dressed in black.
Obito pulled the first dango off the stick and chewed carefully. Imagining himself ripping that stupid cloak off his stupid head.
"Young traveller, I appear in front of you to tell you of your future. Hear my words and heed my warnings." The deep voice echoed around like the inside of a bell.
Obito swallowed, and nodded. "Sure, go on ahead."
"War is upon the land-."
Obito snorted. "When is it not?"
"...if you continue on this path-."
"I like the view."
The prophet sucked in a breath, his gloved hands clenched tight. "...your life will come to a tragic end."
Obito took another bite, chewing still when he asked. "Like, I die?"
The figure nodded.
"In the war?" Obito double checked, and received another nod. "Hmm, wouldn't be the first time. I died in brawls many times over, a war sounds a lot better. Like an upgrade."
The hood flipped back, revealing Madara’s disgruntled expression. "Obito!" He hissed. His long unruly hair seemed to bristle alongside for emphasis.
Obito finished off his dango and flicked the stick in Madara’s direction. "500 years and you come to me with a prophecy? Not even a hi, hello, love of my life, how have you been? Did you turn off the stove before you left the mountain cottage or we won’t have a home to return to?"
Madara’s jaw clenched. His red eyes were bleeding into purple.
"I've been well, thanks for asking. I might or might not have burned the house down though."
Madara closed his eyes. "Obito please, you know why I left."
"Sure, sure, at least you still remember my name." Obito searched for another dango. "Should be happy right?" He chucked the whole thing at Madara. "Well excuse me that I'm not!"
"I have left you a note."
Obito’s eyes flashed red. "A sticky note on the cauldron saying I'll return."
Madara winced. "Obito, please, just go to the other town, it will avoid the war, if you stay-."
Obito snorted and wiggled into a more comfortable sitting position. "Yeah, sure, ain't happening."
Madara sighed. "Fine, would you leave, if I met you there?"
Obito eyed him suspiciously. "Depends, do you still know who I am?"
Madara’s lips twitched. "My dear husband, the love of my life."
Obito humphed, but stood up, tosing his bag over his shoulder and pointed at Madara. "You better be there." He took off, whistling a sweet melody all the way over to the next village.
