My Favourite Cup of Coffee
Coffee is such a personal thing, taste buds are rarely the same. So giving out coffee suggestions really requires understanding the taste profile of the person. You also need to know what that person is expecting from a great cup of coffee. For me, that generally tends to be a natural processed coffee (pending post about what these means). These coffees tend to be very berry forward. You smell and taste the natural terrior from which the coffee was grown. About four of five years ago, I had the Madcap Ardi. I’ve had a lot of cups since then, but I still find this coffee to be literally the best cup I’ve had.

Over those years, I’ve boosted how good the cup was as a pour over. The acids in the coffee really come out in V60 or a Wave. However, after talking to the roasters, and owners of the Grand Rapids, MI based company, I found this bean makes a solid espresso. So I went home, and pulled a few shots onto milk and was pleasantly surprised. It tasted like a berry filled milkshake.
What I would say about the coffee is that its not your commuter’s coffee. I mean that its the fine china of coffee, you need to truly appreciate the delicate parts of the coffee. So if you plan on throwing sugar and milk into this puppy, I would do a hard pass. Another complaint that it generally gets, is that its not a coffee drinkers coffee. Natural process coffees are berry forward, something you are not expecting when having coffee.
