She wants the silence but fears the solitude
She wants to be alone and together with you
So she ran to the lighthouse, hoped that it would help her see
She saw that the lighthouse had been washed out to sea

Prompt: ONE OF THEM FINDS A WAND AND HAVOC HAPPENS
Fic:
Summer was a hectic time at the Blakemore Manor. The kids were home from school with nothing to do but get into trouble and Remilia and Nik spent their time trying to keep them out of it. Even with the help of the older Blakemore’s who came and went, it was still impossible to keep the place calm. Chaos was normal.
Remilia sat in the solarium with a cup of peppermint tea. The smell of fresh flowers and sound of trickling water is soothing in the early morning. The room around her is covered in plants in all shapes and sizes; most belonging to Nikolas. A pond is at center attention with a cascading waterfall that flows underneath a wooden bridge that leads to a set of benches and chairs. The koi that fill the shallow pond stand at attention as Remilia tosses pieces of her croissant into the water from the bench where she sits. This is truly Remilia’s favorite place, mostly because you can’t see the benches from the house or the yard. This room was the only place she could hide from the rest of the world.
“Thought I’d find you here.” Nikolas smiled over the French Lilac bush that hides her from the doorway.
A smile grows across her face at the sight of him. “It’s the first place I go.”
“Every time.” Nik gives her a loving smile as he takes a seat next to her.
“The strawberries and raspberries are great this year.” Remilia points across the pond to a massive berry vine that covers a nearly invisible lattice.
Nikolas reaches his arm out to rasp her pointing hand and kisses her bare shoulder. “I have been craving some of your tarts lately.”
Remilia rolled her eyes at her husband playfully. “Raspberry tarts and cheesecakes for days.” She teased with a kiss. “Maybe some strawberry ice cream.”
“Oh, don’t forget the jam.” Nik commented with a raised eyebrow.
“Which reminds me that breakfast is probably ready.” Remilia rose to her feet. “Come on, we have plenty more time to make out later.”
“Is that a promise?” Nik’s eyebrows raised in speculation.
Remilia ignored her husband’s teasing as she made her way through the house to the dining room with him in tow. The sound of chaos that echoed through the great hall was both scary and heartwarming to Remilia. The fact she had almost all of her kids at home was a blessing but it just stressed her out more. At least most of them were old enough to control themselves.
As the two of them rounded the corner to the dining room she was greeted by her eldest, Farrah who was trying to wrestle Piper and Gracie into their booster seats. Farrah had gotten Piper halfway strapped in when she decided to throw a fit to get Remilia’s attentions.
“Piper. Piper. If you sit still you can have pancakes.” Remilia scurried over to help Farrah.
“Momma” Gracie thrust her hands toward Remilia as she usually did when she wanted to be picked up. Of course Remilia did so just to put her back down in the seat and strap her in.
Remilia kissed the top of both the girls’ heads before hugging a frustrated Farrah. “Hey, I love you” She kissed Farrah’s cheek. She knew how hard it was for Farrah sometimes. Farrah had been putting her life into her siblings since Dorea had been born 18 years ago. She was 24 with a lifetime of experience with kids and even then she chose to come back to Blakemore Manor. She could have done anything in the world but she wanted to be here with the kids and that wasn’t always easy.
As the room began to fill with children Remilia took her seat at the south end of the table across from Nikolas at the other end. From where she sat she could see everyone. Charlus was tossing grapes into Logan’s mouth while Felix flicked blueberries at Shaylynn with a spoon. Kayla and Riley were gabbing with Lexis and Lydia from across the table about the latest gossip. Andrew was tossing biscuits across the table while his wife Daisy was pouring hot gravy onto little Emma’s plate. Corey and Gabriella were arguing over something while Torey tried to convince Taylor to eat her eggs. Margaret and Kimberly were sitting across from each other in the center of the table talking about lessons for the week while Farrah hurriedly stuffed her face with food so Piper would do the same. Aimee and Alyssa were talking as they piled blueberry pancakes on their plates before Annabelle interrupted them with the accidental blow of the whipped cream can to Alyssa’s face. The chaos around the table didn’t bother Nik as he stuffed sausage and eggs into his mouth. Remilia on the other hand could hardly pay attention to her breakfast.
“Momma, what are you staring at?” Marius asked as he poured hot syrup on his pancakes.
A smile washed across Remilia’s face at the sight of her son. “I’m just-”
“Hush!” Holly nearly screamed over the crowd.
Gracie sat in her booster seat with a wide smile across her face and a syrup covered wand in her hand. The three year old gripped the powerful piece of wood with an iron fist as everyone stood in preparation on what was to happen next. Every single Blakemore knew better than to leave wands unattended since the accident of 2005 when Joanna blew up the playroom with Farrah’s wand.
“Gracie, put it down.” Margaret glared straight into the little girl’s soul. “Put it down and you can have a cookie.”
In that moment Gracie flung her arms in a fit sending everything that sat on the table into the air. Sticky syrup covered pancakes flung to the high ceilings and eggs of all varieties scattered around the room. Gravy and syrup splattered across the room as cereal bowls exploded like landmines. High pitched screams accompanied the hot food covering everything and everyone. The food spun in a whirlwind until Torey could successfully rip the wand from Gracie’s hand.
“Is everyone okay?!” Remilia called as she brushed off a chunk of what seemed to be a gravy covered piece of fruit.
For a brief moment the room was silent until Margaret rises to her feet. “Wands are not to be brought to the dinner table!” She shrieked with such a high pitch voice that her water glass exploded in front of her. At that point she stormed off without another word.
“Well,” Nik mumbled from the head of the table where he seemed to be pretty content with the pancake that landed on his plate. “I guess that’s a good sign that Gracie is going to be one hell of a witch.”
At that moment Remilia couldn’t help but smile at the mess she made for herself.
