I've read Eragon when I was like 12 - 14 and I actually liked it? I'm actually curious on why do you hate it that much. I wouldn't know about the quality or the writing since I read a translation, but were there like, some problematic themes or something?

No, there’s nothing really objectionable in the book (although I think there’s some really bizarre hardcore vegan propaganda in the later books, which I haven’t read?). It just so uninspired, unoriginal, recycled and childishly written even after it went through a professional editor and I take it’s very existence as a personal insult. It’s everything I don’t like about fantasy tropes and clichés and the hero’s journey etc.

I’m a grudge-holding grump in this instance and I thoroughly acknowledge my bias.
