Two generations of folk musicians sing and dance at the "festa della trebbiatura", the threashing feast in San Floro, Calabria. The whole village used to come tothether to celebrate the #wheat harvest season, but this tradition, as much as the wheat cultivation itself had almost gone lost forever. As Italy is going through one of it's deepest financial and political crisi of now little more than 150 years of history of the republic, an identity crisis surfaces in large parts of it's society. Since the 1960's many (especially rural) traditions were set aside and sacrificed in the name of progress and industrialization, which apparently does not ad up as much as it was promised. Overall wealth sure did increase over the years, but so did issues related to pollution, environmental damage, food quality and mental health, typical for industrialized countries.
