dave floats down to a lower floor of the wrecked building leisurely, as if he has time to admire the vaporous clouds that roll overhead. some vantage point this is. all he can see is smoke and rubble within the dusty grey horizon, spanning out like dusty petals in an artist’s mosiac, but he is taken back to texas all the same. all it’s missing is the fire and lightening and everything frightening.
he shakes his head to himself. there’s no point reliving some fresh horror when he’s in the middle of facing a completely new one. spotting the yellow fuzzball beside ash, dave says,

“Are you okay, Cookie?” He bent down in front of his Skitty. Now that they were in a safe zone, he could rest for a moment. He gave her a healing kiss on the head before wiping the sweat from his brow.
“Thanks for that roll out back there. Who knew bubble spikes were ineffective against ghosts?” He was just about to suggest they rest longer when he saw a flash of light.
Electricity crackled as Steven looked over. The flash faded, but whatever it was didn’t seem to stop the hoards of monsters from swarming around the boy and his familiar friend.
“Someone else needs our help! Crystal Gems, go!” Steven jumped to his feet as Cookie got on his shoulder.
Steven dashed over to the boy and summoned his bubble, giving the trainer and his pokemon a moment to breathe as the monsters slammed against the bubble’s surface.
“Hey! I love your Pikachu! It’s so cute!” Steven grinned.
She couldn’t help but wander the city looking for answers that the android lady couldn’t answer. Even with all the rubble and ruin, this place had to have a history, and a reason for why it took her to a place so far from home. Kicking some rocks with an unpleasant frown on her features, she eyes @madpaced-getter, who was carelessly walking under a loose and rickety metal frame. He appeared distracted as he was talking to a... mouse(?) on his shoulder.
“Hey watch out!” Violet calls before she pushes her palms in the direction above the two, summoning a force field as the frame falls from its place. Before it could reach the boy and his mouse(?), the force field breaks the frame’s fall and it bounces off into a pile of rubble. Relieved, Violet returns her arms to her sides and walks over, hoping they were fine.
“Hey, are you alright? You should really watch where you’re going. This city is a towering pile of trash right now.”

Bead-like eyes meet the samurai’s dead-fish eyes in an intense gaze, neither blinking or looking away from the other. To anyone who might be observing, it seems like a staring competition of epic proportions. Except it’s decidedly one-sided on Gintoki’s side.
The kid’s gone somewhere and somehow it’s just him and the yellow pet mouse thing left. Pikachu, was it? That’s what he’s heard the kid call it from time to time. Is it displeased at being left alone? Why does it keep looking at him?
The silence is punctuated by a rather sudden and loud growl.
“A-are you hungry? Well, it can’t be helped, so Gin-san will take some food out for now.” What is he even acting embarrassed about when it’s just Pikachu and him? And why does he have to blame Pikachu for his stomach? It’s a complete mystery.
“Pika?” The critter tilts its head and looks at him almost curiously. All he has is some candy and dried fruit he’s found lying about the city, but as Gintoki munches, he holds out some for Pikachu, who happily takes the sweets after a moment of contemplation.
Sugar cravings satisfied, a big yawn escapes, and the samurai flops back onto the couch in the living room, deciding it’s time for his afternoon nap. He opens an eye and looks the electric mouse, who’s still looking curiously at him. “Oi, oi. We gotta keep the rest for another time, so don’t look at me like that.” Closing his eyes again, he feels a warmth nestling next to him and he dozes off with the tiniest of smiles.
