Sonic didn’t often run in top speeds around populated areas, specifically towns and cities, mainly because he wasn’t one to potentially hurt someone with his running. Sure, it sucked to stick as close to the speed limits as possible, maybe pushing it just a little around cars, but one too many collisions have taught Sonic that he should at least keep the top speeds out in the open fields.
There was only a few reasons Sonic would be running around a city; either Eggman’s causing havoc around town, or the blue hedgehog had failed to realize when he accidentally entered the busy streets. Right now it was just the latter.
Sure, Sonic had a better time keeping track of his surroundings than other people would at speeds like this, but Sonic tended to run to escape from reality a bit, just to feel the air in his quills and not have to worry about Egghead or anything else. He would get into the zone while running like this, which was why he would pick deserted areas to run.
Guess he just ran a bit too far in a certain direction.
He didn’t even realize his mistake until he felt the all-too familiar feeling of something solid colliding with his face, stopping all forward movement. Well, not entirely; his legs moved further than the rest of his body, causing him to lose balance and land backwards onto his quills. He was seeing stars - or more like rings - for a moment before he begrudgingly sat up, groaning in pain and slight embarrassment as he rubbed a glove across his face. Yep, he likely broke his nose. It sure felt like it, at least.
He opened his eyes and, through the double vision he was currently experiencing, he caught the blurry figure in front of him and realized he had definitely ran into another living being. He immediately tried to save face.
☆ “Whoa, sorry about that! Guess I got carried away, that doesn’t tend to happen!”
He was definitely lying, but he wasn’t going to admit that.
