The concept was to turn her into a Monster High Character. I turned her into Madremonte. I should have kept some details, but it looks alright overall.

May or may not have forgotten to keep posting on here, Oops. But have a design I made for Hispanic Heritage Month (more coming soon) For this, I decided to do designs for some of the mythological creatures from Colombia! This serves as a learning curve for me, since I've wanted to research them for a while, so here we are!
Anyways, meet La Madremonte (better known as Mother Earth.) She is said to be a deity who represents the mountains, who is dressed with leaves and tree branches. People say she is partly female, partly made of earth.
Her mission is to protect the forests and nature, and she attacks when there are winds or floods that harm her domain, or when hunters enter her domain to search for food.

I have another piece that's done, but college stuff and school is making drawing REALLY difficult, so I'm not sure if ill be able to do more for this month.

So Encanto has inspired me to look into some Colombian Legends and I just read about a being called Madremonte.
She is basically a protector of the forest, and is often associated with Storms, Animals, and Plants.
Which, if you think about it, are also very much related to Antonio, Isabella, and Pepa's talents in Encanto.
I know that the likelihood of their talents being created as a refrence to Madremonte is small, but its still a pretty cool coincidence.

This summer I'm putting together a documentary dedicated to the Syrian community of Allentown. My hope is to elevate Syrian voices, raise funds for charities dedicated to helping Syrians, and hopefully opening the eyes of non-Syrians. I fear that in crafting this film I risk subconsciously falling into a biased narrative but I hope that I can be objective when the time comes to release. Photos were taken by me at Saint George's Antiochian Orthodox Church - Christopher Jelkh (Younes)
Madremonte, or Mother Mountain, is a figure in Colombian mythology. She is often depicted as a huge woman with large, bony hands and glowing eyes. Her body is covered in leaves and moss, and her hair is made of plantlife. She is said to live in mountains, jungles, swamps and streams.
Madremonte rules the wind, rain and all vegetation. She protects nature at all costs, and will cause those who trespass into unspoiled areas to pass out and become lost. She has also been accused of spiriting away wayward children.
