     The stars will always have a place in his heart. He still remembered that time when he was still a toddler. How the celestial objects described in his encyclopedia captured his interest for the first time. It once occurred to him to be an astronaut, yet the thought of drinking recycled urine had the toddler contemplating before he decided to be an astronomer instead. Either way, present day Zach doubted he could accomplish that considering his math skills. But no matter! Nothing would stop him from admiring the picturesque night sky from the balcony of his bedroom, like what he's doing now as he leaned on the fence.

     Such beautiful balls of gas and dust, stars are.

     The time, however, was getting late and sooner than later he'll have to sleep. Today's stargazing session was over since his eyes wouldn't budge to compromise. The male pushed himself off the fence and yawned. Right when he turned his back toward the outside view, flickers of light passed through his vision.

     Zacharias pivoted back to the balcony. There it was - a meteor! His eyes widened in awe, lips parted to let a soft gasp at the breathtaking sight. But something felt off.

     Maybe it's the way the meteor seem to head toward his vicinity, with its sparks getting brighter each millisecond. Or rather his house. Perhaps the terribly blinding light was at fault.

     Or the way it's nearing his balcony--

     --and crashed at him?

                                                           "!!!"

     The next seconds after that were spent with his eyebrows knitted and confusion smeared all over his face, with the night continued like before as if dismissing the peculiar occurrence earlier. Nothing was too bright anymore. Well, maybe except for the meteor that passed after, almost blind to the eyes - as if teasing him? Like, it set him in a prank and laughed at him as it disappeared from sight? What is he even thinking?

     He'd absolutely write about this in his journal. But for now sleep is a priority. Up until he tucked himself to bed in the dark bedroom, his mind whirred over the single mystery of all:

                            What was that?

         The words are said in a monotone,          accompanied by a matching deadpan          stare. Some friends, leaving her with          the booth as they get more pastries          from the bakery. Just because she's          'too weak to lift the trays up even if she          tries'. Damn this school event, overall.          If this customer is going to decide to          wait for the pastries (or to stay in the          shade with her, damn heat!), damn          them too for making her life even more          awkward than it already is.
