Mae is a girl who is of British and Korean descent, her father being Korean and her mother being British. She lived in England until she was 5 years old, when her parents decided to move to South Korea, so that they could be closer to their family that lived there.
Mae has always wanted to be a performer, so as soon as she felt ready and prepared enough, she auditioned for BigHit Entertainment.
To say she was shocked when she was informed that she would be in a group made up of 7 other guys and no girls is an understatement. She of course worried that she would be lost in the background being the only girl, but now she would have it no other way.
She was never forgotten and her and the rest of the guys have the best fan base anyone could ever ask for.
Mae and BamBam of Got7 began dating in December of 2015, after they had met each other a few months prior.
At first, they kept themselves secret, not wanting anyone other than themselves to know about them for obvious reasons however, it wasn't long before the members of Got7 found out, since BamBam couldn't keep it to himself any longer, and BTS soon found out too.
BamBam also took it upon himself to start teaching Mae Thai, so that she could be prepared if she ever visited his home country with him, even though she wasn't really picking it up that well to star with.
Everything was going well and they had managed to stay a secret for over 6 moths, when they were found out by BigHit, so when BigHit found out, they obviously told JYP what one of their idols was doing behind their backs.
After they were found out, the two idols were forced to stay away from each other for a few days, each being placed under watch so there was no chance of even sneaking out to see each other.
It was BigHit that broke the silence first. Bang PD arranged a meeting so he and Mae could talk in private. At first he tried to tell her that her and BamBam would have to break up, since it would be interfering with her work and focus however, Mae used the excuse that her and BamBam had been dating for over 6 months, and neither of their work or performances were effected, which got Bang PD thinking.
A few days after the meeting, Bang PD started negotiations with JYP, in regards to what they should do with the relationship between the two idols.
It was a very stressful time for both Mae and BamBam, since they were having their personal life and relationship discussed by others, and they had no say in the final result. The guys of BTS were amazing during this time, helping her keep her mind off the impending decision by distracting her with their goofy antics.
Eventually, it was decided by both BigHit and JYP that Mae and BamBam could be together, but the relationship would have to go public. The reasoning behind it is because, they had seen the fans online commenting about the two idols and how much they wanted them to be together so, they were basically being used for publicity that would benefit both companies.
Both Mae and BamBam couldn't say that they were thrilled about being forced to make their relationship public, and especially not just for publicity but if it meant that they could be together, then they were willing to accept it.
