Hello! So I am back from Pennsic and also recovered enough to not be trying to make up for taking a week off, hence finally posting

Overall Pennsic was amazing, I fought in 6 rapier melees, 3 rapier tournaments, the stab and gab, and the Tadcaster. I also danced at 6 balls, sang at 2 bardic circles, attended 2 parties, and did a bog walk. An amazing, but exhausting week.

But one of my favorite parts was wearing my watermelon dress to the Blue Feather ball! It got lots of compliments and I remembered to take a picture of my hair taping this time.

So pictures below, and I finish the last little bits of embroidery for the dress, I'm also starting my next project, so watch out for that!

Introductions

Hello!

I will admit, I didn't really expect anyone who didn't know me personally to find or care about this blog, it was more meant as an archive for myself, but I'm really glad people like my stuff! With that, I thought I'd share some context for me and this blog

I'm Maedhbh, and I'm a member of the SCA or Society for Creative Anachronism, which is a worldwide medieval re-enactment organization. It's a lot of fun, and that's what most of my crafting is going to be for. While I occasionally have modern projects, most of what you'll see will be medieval.

And related to the SCA, tomorrow I will be leaving for Pennsic, which is the largest SCA event in the world, a 2 week long extravaganza of fighting, crafting, partying, etc. I'm only going for the second week, but regardless, you aren't going to hear anything from me until I get back, so heads up on that

That said, I will do my best to take pictures, especially of the watermelon dress

Second to last update, promise.

I also picked up a new hobby last weekend. An event i was at held a scribal salon where they were giving away beginner scribal kits. And here's the thing, I've also be impressed by the scrolls the sca makes, but also, intimidated. You see, I'm not very artistic so people who can draw and do calligraphy, just wow.

But I've also been trying to remind myself that you can enjoy things you're not great at, so i tried and made my very first scroll blank!

It was SO much fun! So i took the kit home and I've been playing around and making more scroll blanks (calligraphy is still beyond me)

So there's a scribal tag now

Did a practice scribble of an illuminated letter L in my sketchbook today. It turned out alright. So I might start planning for an actual scroll blank. Of course I may test out a few other designs before I try it on the good Bristol paper
