the first installment in my Love Shot mafia au series!! i decided to do kai first bc we can all agree that he killed it this era. enjoy!
The atypical mafia troop EXO was formed in the disguise of a modeling agency, in which eight young handsome men use their charms and sly tactics to deceive the aristocracy. Through the practice of their lucrative methods of pulling off heists and discretely eliminating their competition, they are able to make a name for themselves, and rise as the most prestigious agency in Korea. But what happens when an intruder discovers the dark secrets and intentions of EXO, intentionally or not?
A collective series of one-shots (all x reader) featuring the EXO members as mafia gang members. Inspired by the latest comeback, Love Shot, of course.
Being the manager of a modeling agency was never a training requirement you had undergone, as you were mostly experienced in solely companies that dealt with finance and health care. Most of your clients were middle aged to senior citizens, whom you were fond of and close to several of the families you worked with. Your sweet and caring demeanor stood out among all the other employees in your field, allowing you to excel in your position, which is how you were granted the position at EXO Agencies. Your reputation had spread and caught the attention of the agency for some reason, but you didn’t complain. In fact, you were elated. EXO Agencies was a prestigious and reputable company itself, founded by eight young men with merely college degrees, and as the press would call it, a “passion for fashion”. Their values and motto for fashion and an overall lifestyle did align with your own, including the importance of expressing fashion and makeup as an art form that anyone of any gender or race could participate in. In the interviews you would occasionally read, they portrayed a humble and honest nature, one you appreciated.
So you accepted the offer for a job interview when it came to you.
“But Y/N, I thought you’re happy at your current job, no?”
You gently place your coffee mug down after taking a brief sip, and you woefully smile at your questioning friend sitting across from you.
“I was, Mina. It was a pleasant environment for sure, up until a while ago. My clients are amazing as ever, and I’ll still probably be in contact with some of them and visit their families from time to time, since I’ve been managing their accounts and such for so long. But as for my coworkers...” You pause to sigh and roll your eyes.
Mina purses her lips and furrows her brows. She sweeps her hair back and off her shoulder, visibly annoyed, “It’s that stupid foreigner transfer, Claire, isn’t it?”
You had already told Mina about your troubles with Claire specifically, a fairly new recruit that had completely ruined your work experience. She had spread rumours and false lies about you that threatened your reputation. At times like this, you weren’t afraid to confront her directly, so you did. Luckily, she stopped, and your boss was eventually notified of her spreading misinformation, so it shouldn’t have been affecting you anymore, but it somehow still did.
“The coworkers ignore me still. I know I shouldn’t care, but I lost the respect and friendships I once had with them. Long story short, now work is just lackluster, especially since I don’t even see my clients everyday. It’s bittersweet, really.”
Mina hums in agreement, placing her cheek against the knuckle of her right hand. Her draws circle on the table with the index finger of her left hand, “Yeah, I can definitely relate. I’m just ready to finish my apartment lease and then get the hell out so I can find a different job.” Mina worked a minimum wage job, but not in anything entertaining. It was a gas station, the total opposite of somewhere someone like Mina would be found working at.
“I know EXO is a huge upgrade from my work now, but since it’s more fashion oriented, and I know that’s your kinda style, why don’t you come with me? I’ll be moving into an apartment closer to the agency headquarters, and we can live together and you can be like, my assistant or something.”
Mina’s eyes lit up at the offer, even though she knew she had to turn it down, “No no, Y/N, you know I can’t. Besides, they offered this job to you only, not a lowly gas girl like me.” You giggled at her joke, but shook your head at her rejection, “I’m sure I can talk a deal with them. I spoke to the CEO about my interview and he seemed really sweet, I’m sure he would understand. Besides, there’s no other employee besides the guy themselves. Like literally no one. Hiring one other person couldn’t hurt them.”
Mina hesitantly stares off into the distance, “I don’t want to be troubling you, though. I’ll feel so guilty.”
“Mina, we’ve known each other for how long and you think you’re gonna trouble me? You think I’ll complain about living with one of my best friends?” You reason, trying to persuade her.
Mina pauses for a moment before answering, “Okay, if you’re cool with it and all.”
“Yay!! I love you!” You rejoice, and hold your palms out for her to clasp her hands with. Mina giggles at your reaction.
“Besides, I do need someone who at least has experience in fashion and all that shit.”
“Oh wow, so you’re just using me now?” Mina asks jokingly.
You take your mug up to your lips, hiding the smug look on your face and wiggle your eyebrows, “Maybe.” To which Mina chuckles and rolls her eyes.
Mina’s lease ended by the time you finished signing the contract on your new apartment in the city where you where to start your new life and job in. You had been helping Mina pack her belongings into boxes on your off-time from work, looking forward to the job interview. When the day came, you were quite ecstatic and confident, since it was your skills and work ethic that you had worked so hard to build up that allowed you to be where you were now. You were sure they would hire you, and oh, what an accomplishment it would be to be the first outsider to be an employee, yet alone a manager, at EXO Agencies. You imagined all the press interviews and news releases about you, along with your increase in pay for working at a multi-million dollar company, and you tried to suppress the ego you had already been growing.
When you arrived in your taxi, they pulled up directly in front of the building, which was one of the tallest skyscrapers among the others in the city. You walked towards the entrance, guards surrounding almost the entire premise. When you reached the grand sliding doors, one of them approaches you and asks for your name and ID. You momentarily question all the heavy security as you fish out your belongings from your purse, but don’t bother to ask anything of it as the female guard examines your ID. She hands back your ID with a strict but polite smile and allows you to go through. You walk inside, and immediately are greeted with the thundering echos of your heels against the marble flooring. The lobby was not as flashy as you expected, rather it had a modern and sleek appearance, one you would find on an interior design magazine. There were, however, large posters cascading down the walls on the side, each of them being full body shots of the eight men in formal attire, with their name digitally added in a fancy cursive font at the bottom. You paused to try and examine each one, but are interrupted by the sound of a male clearing their throat. You turn to look at who was trying to get your attention, and you recognize it as Suho, the CEO whom you spoke with on the phone. He’s dressed as you would expect a CEO to look, suit and all, hair combed back neatly to reveal his bold facial features.
“Trying to memorize our names, I assume?” Suho strides over towards you and extends his arm out, his charming and witty personality exuding from his jest.
“Of course not, how am I supposed to be hired if I don’t know the eight names of the men running this entire place.” You reply warmly, and take his hand to shake, to which Suho chuckles.
“Very nice to meet you, Miss L/N. I’m looking forward to having you as our most greatest asset in our company.” He says as you both shake hands, but you give him a questioning glance.
“Wait, are you saying I already got the job?”
Suho smiles broadly and nods, letting go of your hand to gesture for you to come follow him, “Yes, but come follow me. We have other business to discuss, like your transfer over to EXO and job duties, as well as your salary.” You smirk to yourself when he mentions the last word, which he doesn’t catch as he’s already walking in front of you.
You follow him up the spiraling staircase, which was positioned right next to all the posters, and you continue to study them as you walk up. When you reach the second floor, it’s mostly vacant and dark, but most of the area being office cubicles that were empty. He passes by the area and leads you to one of the bigger office rooms that were surrounding all the cubicles. The room was empty, except for a single manila folder placed on the desk, and two chairs. He flicks the light switch on and gestures for you to sit on the chair, and he goes around the desk to sit in his seat. Suho takes the folder and opens it up, revealing several papers, each with large headlines with words you caught, including “Monthly Salary”, “Clothing Distribution”, and “Media”. However, one file slips out from the very end of the pile, and you catch the words “take down of mafia 268″. You assume the mafia thing was a concept of one of their photoshoots, and wouldn’t be surprised of, based on their previous work of edgy themes. Suho is quick to slip the file back under the pile and rearrange it so that the files he needed you to see would be facing you. He discretely takes the file out while you are focused on the ones that were infront of you, and soundlessly crumples it from under the desk.
“So, you’re being hired as the corporate manager, and your duties range from handling and booking the photoshoots, reaching out to companies for collaborations, ordering the clothes, jewelry and anything else, as well as escorting us to any shows or business meetings. Oh, and especially finances, since that is you’re specialization.” Suho explains, his hands folded over the files. He then removes his hand off of them to allow you to read them, and you take the one that outlines your specific jobs as the corporate manager, reading everything that Suho had just clarified. You nod as you quickly skim the list, and put the file back down.
“Along with this, the pay you will be receiving will be five times the amount you had been earning at your previous company.” Your lips twitched into a smile, but you tried to hide it as to not let Suho suspect anything of you regarding being money driven.
“Just one,” You exhale a sigh,” I have one request.”
Suho leans back in his chair, motioning for you to continue speaking, “Go ahead.”
“I have a very close friend of mine who is very educated in the fashion industry, and I want her to be my assistant. Her line of work in the past has been the most relevant to what your agency is doing right now, and I believe that with her help, she can be very helpful and also guide me, since this would essentially be a huge learning curve for me.”
Suho’s gaze had remained on the files as you spoke, but he made a sharp glance at you after you stopped, “You must be well aware of what kinda of company we are, right Miss L/N?”
The tone in his voice had switched from cordial to stern, which you took note of and started to regret your request. But you decided to probe further, since this was a promise you made for Mina.
“Yes, I am. You are a very unique organization, I may call it. It’s very closed off, yet one of the most important influencing agencies in the industry. But I’m only making this request, as someone who is knowledgeable in this career of managing businesses, I know that hiring this person will truly benefit you in the end.” You state confidently, defending your position at all costs.
“I appreciate the confidence,” Suho replies, and you assume he’s going to reject your request, “and since you’re now the manager, you have the right to hire anyone you please.”
In shock, you gape at his answer. You really thought he was going to turn you down, or even fire you will it was still early in the process.
Suho notices your perplexity and leans forward and over the desk, “We are entrusting you with a lot now, Miss L/N. What you have to worry about now is not disappointing us.” He pats the files and grabs a stray pen from the side of the desk, and slides it to you. You take the hint, and start to sign your name onto every file, sealing your fate into the most bizarre conspiracy you have ever come across in your life.
A week after you met with Suho, you were expected to start working. You were emailed a location, date, and time to meet the EXO members and begin introductions, as well as learning how to manage their schedules and etcetera. It’s wasn’t the same address as the skyscraper building, which you guessed was the headquarter, so you assumed this new place was some sort of warehouse. Mina had officially moved in, although both of your belongings hadn’t quite yet, and the two of you were in the process of helping each other unpack and settle in to the new place. Mina was more than happy to learn that you had rented a studio apartment with a view of the city, but when she voiced her concern about the money you were spending, you reassured her that you wanted to spend a little, since you were now going to be earning big time. The two of you had agreed that some of Mina’s earnings could just go through you in order to pay for the apartment, You had originally suggested for her to pay less, since she was your friend after all, but Mina didn’t want to feel like she was using her friend’s kindness, and demanded that you cut some of her profits from EXO and just put it into your own.
“Is it crazy that I work under you now?” Mina asks as you both step into the taxi to head over to the location to meet EXO. You close the door and buckle your seat belt up, before facing her, “Yeah, but it’s not like I’m gonna treat you any differently.”
Mina grins, “I know.”
You arrive to a rather large building that seemed like a convention center. It was not on a busy street, and the area was rather secluded, and on the outskirts of the city.
“They sure do like their privacy a whole lot.” Mina snickers as you both exit the taxi, eyes glued onto the building.
“You do realize that we’re a part of the ‘they’ now, right?” You comment.
“You have a point. Guess we get to know all their secrets now.”
Secrets is not what you learned at all. In fact, the meeting with the boys was quite relaxed and standard. You were guided by yet again more guards, and led to a room that was at the end of a large hall within the building. It was a business meeting room, with a single long table placed in the center, and a TV on the farthest wall projecting the words “WELCOME TO EXO AGENCIES” in bold letters. Sitting at the chairs along the table were six men, each in casual, everyday dressing, although all enhanced their handsome features with light makeup. You and Mina greeted each one as they all stood up to welcome you when you entered the room, hugging them and shaking hands. When all the introductions and such ended, you and Mina take a seat next to each other across from them to begin the discussion.
“So where’s Kai and Sehun?” You question, since it was only six of them present at the moment.
“They’re on their way, they just completed a deal with one of our trustees of a different agency.” One of the men, Jongdae, answered cooly. You and Mina nod and don’t ask anything more about it.
The rest of the time was dedicated to outlining certain tasks and teaching you different tools and people to know and contact and communicate with. They emphasized the importance of building social connections, and how to host outside models during collabs with different agencies. You and Mina were both split up eventually into two sides of the room, with Suho, Xiumin, and Kyungsoo helping you with learning how to allocate money and resources, and Mina being taught by Baekhyun, Chanyeol, and Jongdae on preparing photosets, and hiring photographers and makeup artists. The next few hours flew by with this training and teaching, soon enough it had gotten dark outside. Within the last fiveteen minutes before you and Mina decided to go, you spent chatting of pleasant small talk with the members. They were all quite genuine and not in the slightest bit cocky, humility being their number one quality.
As you and Mina were saying your goodbyes, you walk towards the exit and stumble into a chest, causing you to fall back, but Mina catch you and lifts you back up.
The person glares down at you, unaffected by your measly figure. You look up to see who you bumped into to apologize, but you’re caught in his gaze. He’s striking, to say the least, his dark, greasy hair pushed back to reveal his forehead, which glistened in sweat. His tan complexion was flushed, but harshly illuminated under the yellow office lights, yet he stood out well in the all black attire. He remains complacent as you stare back in bewilderment, but he smirks at you all too evidently.
“So, what I’d miss?” His voice was gruff from his panting, and you noticed that he was visibly sweaty not only on his face, but on his chest that peaked out due to his low v-line dress shirt.
“You must be Kai!” Mina exclaims, still holding you up, and trying to push you off so that you could stand back up normally, but you refused to because if you did, you’de be too close to Kai and his sweaty body.
“And you must be the two newbies. Welcome miss..?” Kai paused.
“Mina! Miss Mina.” Mina replies all too giddily. Kai grins and winks, “Miss Mina.”
After greeting Mina, he ignores to ask you for your name and casually sits down on the chair you were sitting at. Another man walks in, and it’s Sehun. He’s also sweaty and his eyes are dilated, panting quite heavily. Yet, he manages to give you both a curt nod, and then collapses into the seat next to Kai, where Mina sat at.
“So fellas, what’s next?”
The EXO members are passive to this whole scene, and Chanyeol starts to tell them about their whole day, with the other members chipping in as well, quickly becoming rowdy.
Mina clucks her tongue, and pushes you out of the room, “Men.” She says quietly so only you would hear. You would usually laugh, but right now, you were too offended by what had just happened.
“Did you not notice what happened? He completely ignored me! What a dick!” You yell, hugging the throw pillow that was on your couch and falling over onto the cushions to face the ceiling.
“But he’s pretty hot.” Mina calmly states from the kitchen, making herself some coffee as you rant.
“Okay, but it’s not hot if you’re attractive and also a cocky little bitch. Say the other members. They’re all so nice, right?” Mina hums in agreement, “Yeah, see, everyone else showed that they were all really humble people. But Kai didn’t even acknowledge me, in fact, he gave me one demeaning glance, and didn’t even bother to say hi to his new boss.” You pause to think about your statement. Were you really a boss now? Suho was still the CEO though, so what really were you in regards to the heirachy of the company.
“Sweetie, I think you’re still below them. Actually, I’m not even sure, it’s still confusing me. But they are the founders of this company, so shouldn’t that make them, I don’t know, higher?” Mina counters, walking over to sit next to you with her mug in hand. She sits next to you and pats your outstretched legs, “It doesn’t matter, there’s going to be people like that everywhere. I mean, think about it, everyone else was nice, right?”
You pout, “I’m just afraid I won’t be given the respect I deserve like last time. It’s a shitty feeling man.”
Mina exhales loudly, “Yeah, I know.” She mummers, quietly taking a sip of her brew.
Your first three weeks on the job go by speedily, and you’re able to adjust to the new environment fast. Even the members have taken notice and complimented you for catching on quite fast. You end up doing the more business heavy roles, and letting Mina take care of the fashion jobs that you were given. On most days, you would spend time at the headquarters, managing files and making calls, while Mina went to the other site to work on setting up shoots and booking models.
When you both arrived home, it would usually be at the same time, and you would update each other on the coming alongs of your work. The members were absent for a lot of the time, mostly going to Mina to get adjusted and fitted into their outfits, and on the occasion to check up on your work. But the more you both proved to be working diligently, the less they came to visit, and god knows where they were at since they would never reveal, and you both didn’t bother to ask.
But of course, you would only catch glimpses of Kai walking to and from rooms in the empty halls of the building, not bothering to see you in your room like the others did. Chanyeol grew fond of you in particular, coming in to greet you and ask about your day. He would make Kyungsoo sit with him and accompany you during your work, but overall would be a huge distraction as he bothered Kyungsoo, ultimately bothering but amusing you. Each member was fun to be around, including Sehun. You were older than only Sehun out of everyone, and whenever he would come in, you would have deep talks with him about your life and family. Sehun was quiet most of the time, but still amiable. He wouldn’t share most of his personal details like you would, but he was a good listener, and told you that he preferred and enjoyed just hearing you talk.
What you didn’t know was that Sehun was quite talkative to the members, especially about you. He would go off about how he really respects and looks up to you, and admitted that he trusted you.
“What? You mean trust trust?” Kai exclaims, almost choking on his water. He lifts his water bottle down and gives Sehun a disappointed look.
“I never said anything, trust me. But if I could, I would.” Kai’s eyebrow raises at this, and Sehun rushes to explain himself, “B-But I didn’t, okay. I would never. She’s just a really sweet person, different than the other people we dealt with before, Kai. I don’t know, I don’t usually gush this much and you know this, man.”
Kai knew this was true. He had known Sehun since they were very little, and all throughout the years of being his friend he had always been a quite closed off person until they joined EXO. From then on, they grew together as a family and encountered traitors and enemies, until they were one day able to rise to the very top. Sehun grew into his position well, and it was like watching his son prosper. So if Sehun meant something this much about someone, Kai knew to trust him.
“Okay, and what am I supposed to do with this information?”
“Give her a chance? I don’t know, talk to her or something, because you never do. She’s actually really sweet.”
Kai tilts his head back, “And what if she’s a total bitch?”
“I just told you, she isn’t.”
“Yeah, to you, but now she probably doesn’t like him. And I’m fine with that. What would you expect from a person like that.”
Sehun’s nose crinkles, “Like what?”
“She was one of the most reputable employees at her company, and probably had a stick up her ass the whole time, or was brown nosing to get to where she is. I don’t get why Suho wanted to hire her in the first place, especially as someone who isn’t an expert in the fashion industry.”
“Isn’t it obvious? If Suho did hire someone who knew how everything worked, they would be able to find out all our lies and cover ups. She’s doing mostly busy work now, since we don’t give her the real stuff, and she wouldn’t be able to tell because she doesn’t know how this industry works.”
Kai takes in Sehun’s explanation. He never put it into perspective like that. Suho really did know what he was doing, which was no wonder he was appointed as CEO.
“You’re right.” Kai admits, to Sehun’s pleasure, “I’ll give her a chance.”
The office was empty as usual, except for you working idly on the computer. You were busy dealing with stock options, with each of the 3 desktop screens in front of you loading various information of numbers and companies. You were too distracted by your work to notice Kai walk in and sit in front of you.
“Ahem.” Kai clears his throat in an obvious manner, causing you to jump back and yelp in surprise at the sudden sound. You look over to Kai, who’s sitting across from you, his arms rested on top of the back rest of the chair, and legs on either side of it.
He narrows his eyes suspiciously at you, “Doing anything nonwork related over there?” He lazily tries to peak over, but since you had nothing to had, you don’t move.
You remain quiet but still keep eye contact with him, undetered.
“Not quite the chatterbox, I see. Sehun told me the exact opposite.”
You arched your brows, “He told you?”
“Yeah, he tells me you’re a good person.” You blush at this comment, but don’t act flustered, “You probably don’t think I am because of the day when we met, so I want to say sorry for that.”
The sincerity in his apology and the way he brightened up to look at you, hoping you would forgive him made you feel somewhat relieved. You never liked having any remote hatred for anyone, let alone any animosity between you and someone else, so it was nice knowing that you could both possibly start off new.
“It’s okay, I understand. Why don’t we start again?” You offer, and Kai beams.
“I’m Y/N, I’ll be looking forward to seeing you around more often, and possibly being visited by you more..?” You tail off at the end, to which Kai chuckles heartily, “Yes, definitely, more than before.” He answers, and you both shake hands with wide grins on your face.
Everyday since then, Kai would visit you everyday, and you would both chat during both your lunch break and as you worked. Sometimes, your lunch break would extend to a few hours from the two of you lounging in the empty lounge area after eating lunch together, talking about work and life in general. He told you about his deep connection to his members, and especially his line of work. Your hardworking nature was something you both shared and developed a connection over.
You felt compersion when he would share his joys with you, and seeing how his face would light up everytime he mentioned his dog or a new dance he learned in his off time. And when you shared your interests, he would have the same feelings as you as he listened to you talk about the latest kdrama you watched, or newest lipstick you bought. It was apparent to the other members as well that you had finally gotten along, which made Sehun especially happy. Kai would still tease you, calling you a spoiled brat, to which you would jab with more insults right back. But even during the lowest of times, you would call each other in the middle of the night, ranting to each other, with Kai providing not as much detail as he wanted to, but made up by fully expressing his emotions. And you liked that about him.
Several months pass and you and Mina were now comfortable in this new lifestyle. Everything was in routine, and you were both finally content with your lives. You were also incredibly proud of Mina’s work, and watching her grow as a person who is able to do what she loves. Mina started making a name for herself in the media more than you, which you didn’t mind as someone working more behind the scenes.
All was normal until one day, Mina woke up sick. It wasn’t a major illness, rather a small cold, and you had offered to stay home and take care for her, but she insisted that you went to work and continued on with your day. She did, however, ask for a small favour, and that was to pick up some outfits that were scheduled to be used in an upcoming shoot. You agreed without hesitation, and made her some soup before you left.
On your way to work, you decided to call Kai and report to him about Mina.
“Good morning, Y/N, what’s up? I’m getting you some fried chicken today so get excited.” Kai shares enthusiastically.
“Hey morning, and thank you Kai, but I also just wanted to say that Mina won’t be able to come in because she’s sick, so she asked me to go pick up some clothes from a warehouse down south, so tell Suho that he doesn’t need to worry about getting someone else to do it.”
“Oh, got it. Which warehouse is it?”
“Mina said it was from the company GOT7? They manufacture a lot of the clothing and distribute it to agencies apparently, is what they emailed Mina, and they offered to make the clothes for really cheap if she were to come pick it up.”
Kai doesn’t say anything for a long time, and you think he accidentally hung up.
“Hello?”
“I can get it for you instead.” Kai suddenly responds, his tone more serious.
“Are you sure? It’s fine, I know you’re busy this week and have to leave right away after lunch.”
“No it’s fine, I have to be there anyways to meet with people.”
“But I feel bad Kai, I need to at least come along with you and make sure we have the clothes.”
“Um,” He stutters, “Okay fine. See you at twelve then.”
“Okay, bye.” You hang up, slightly suspicious. He never sounded that awkward before. Perhaps he was nervous for something.
Your arrive to work at around eight, and soon enough twelve comes around, with Kai carrying take out chicken into the building, and you could smell the wafts of the delicious scent from a mile away.
“Okay, last piece. Who’s gonna take it?” Kai says in between munches on his chicken leg. You both have a stare down, before reaching for the last remaining chicken left in the tub. You were the quicker one, so you rejoiced when you pulled back with the last piece and proclaimed, “Winner winner, chicken dinner!” Kai doubles over in laughter at your pun, and you make fun of him for laughing so hard, refusing to say out loud that it was actually adorable.
When you both finish, Kai leads you to the parking garage that is next to the building, and drives the two of you in the most expensive looking car you’ve laid your eyes on. He starts to laugh again when you gawk at it’s interior after stepping inside. On the way there, he surprises you with sudden speeding every few minutes, which led you to yell for him to stop and hit him on the shoulder but also laugh at the thrilling feeling of going fast. Kai loved your reaction, and felt upset when he arrived at the location, knowing that the little drive trip with you had ended, and that he had serious business to take care of inside.
“Okay, you stay here in the car, alright?” Kai orders as he pulls over to the curb, looking through the passenger window and at the building. It looked like a shady, abandoned warehouse.
“What? No. I have to come with you.” You object, getting ready to unlock the car, but Kai grabs your hand that’s reaching for the door handle. His grip on your wrist is firm, but when you look up at him to question what he was doing, he looked gentle but concerned. It was as if there was something worrying him, and he looked to you as if he was leaving you for good.
“I won’t be gone for too long, I promise. And if I am, just stay put. Trust me, alright?” Kai’s last words scared you. This was a simple errand, yet he expected you to stay back and trust him, for what?
You decided to let it go, and look down, “Okay.”
Kai leans in to give you a kiss on the cheek, before exiting the car and walking up towards the building. You watch him the whole walk through, more concerned for him than being bashful about the kiss.
An hour passes by with no sign of Kai, nor a single sound in the surrounding area. The quiet and boredom was driving you insane; you were already an impatient person, but on top of this your anxiety was growing. Was he okay? Did he run into some trouble?
Your patience had run out at one point, and you decide to walk inside and try to find him. You weren’t necessarily mad, but you wanted to know what was taking so long. You slam the door behind you and walk up.
As you get closer, you hear strange loud noises, like yelling and banging, the banging being constant. You edge close to the entrance of the warehouse, which was a small rusty door. You examine the door and see bullet holes on various spots. You touch the spots, your fingers collecting black soot and dirt. A chill runs down your body. Where exactly were you?
The noises die down suddenly, and you hear a metal object drop to the ground and clatter. A few seconds of silence pass and you decide to yank the door handle and enter. The scene that welcomes you is not pretty.
Blood, gutted bodies, and guns scatter the large cement floor. The reek of the dead filled up the entire area, and the blood painted the walls.
The nausea of it all hit you all at once, almost making you vomit, until you turned to see Kai, hiding behind some stacked boxes opposite to the violent and gory scene ahead of you. He was busy cursing under his breath and reloading his gun, not aware of your presence until you started screaming.
“Y/N?!” Kai yells, jumping up immediately and running to you. He’s covered in blood and dirt from head to toe, along with several cuts all over his face and body, but he embraces you anyway, and you recoil back. He grunts when he makes contact with you, but pulls you closer to his chest in an attempt to shield you. You then notice the large wound on his chest as he pressed against you, the warm liquid blood oozing out, and you start to wail and cry in his arms.
“Let go of me!” You demand, but he grips your waist tightly, “You’re a monster! What is all this? Did you kill them?”
“I had to, It could have been you dead right now if I didn’t do this!“ Kai shouts, not afraid to yell back at you. It doesn’t scare you enough though, and you continue to struggle and fight his grip.
“No wonder you’re all so rich and sketchy, you’re just a bunch of murderers!”
Kai’s heart shatters at this, and he shift in his behaviour. His grip loosens, but you don’t move away. His face is merely inches away, but you refuse to look up at him, until he suddenly lets go and backs away from you.
A part of you looks up to him and hopes to see the same look of worry he had before. But Kai is expressionless, his true emotions hidden from you, which scared you in more ways than you thought. It dawned on you that he was hiding everything from you, and that you fell in love with merely his facade.
“I told you to stay put.”
