You won't like the scars he left in me.
Muslim Nureyev with Mag not understanding how he can believe in something when he's never even seen the sky and Peter, who has always run on hope, who was born a stray dog in hell and believes he can make something out of that life, not understanding how Mag can't
Anyway I'm so normal about them
Insert the brothers Karamazov quote that goes like "even chained underground I exist, I know the sun is there, and there is a whole life in that, knowing the sun is there"
fic i'm reading is tagged "i'm not a mag apologist but nureyev is" and i can't stop laughing
headcanon that Nureyev had long hair on Brahma and Mag made him wear it straight down for "professionalism", and Nureyev started wearing it in ponytails and man buns once he killed Mag
hello penumbrapodcast nation. heard you like this peter nureyev guy

Juno: I’d love to but i actually have um… uh. *goes quiet*
~

Nureyev: If you order by mail it takes 2-3 weeks
Mag: What if you order a female?
rät by Penelope Scott but it’s about Mag and Peter...
‘experiments and sacrilege in the name of public good/ they taught me everything/ just like a daddy should’
- Nureyev tends to romanticise his life as a thief, and that’s for sure something if we see in Mag in AoB
- Mag’s justification for crashing Kinshasa is that it’s better for more people- public good- then what Peter does is also for the good of Brahmans, but it sort of uuuuh ruins his life forever
‘I bit the apple cause I trusted you, it tastes like Thomas Malthus/ your proposal is immodest and insane’
-so Malthus believed in population control for the good of the few, and swift’s modest proposal was satire about people eating children to survive famine (as a critique of Malthusian ideas), this quote is giving me very much the unconditional love that Peter had for the only parent he had ever known and the grim realisation that Mag’s ideas and plan were entirely incompatible with the morals and beliefs Nureyev held, even as a teenager.
‘I loved you, it’s true/ I wanted to be you and do what you do/ ... I feel so stupid and so used’
-self explanatory!
‘I thought if mankind toured the sky it meant that all of us could go’
-makes me sad makes me think about the baby voice in Angel of Brahma makes me think about Peter’s loss of faith and subsequent struggles with his morality
‘I was your baby, your firstborn’ ... ‘I was Darwin’s prep school dream bred born and raised to kick your ass’
- like the contrast between that warm fatherly persona Mag does and then the fact that he was effectively raising Peter to kill thousands of people
- it’s so demoralising and dehumanising to realise you were raised for a purpose, not just because someone wanted you to grow up safe and happy
‘I might deserve your fate, or worse’
- very s3 Peter- feeling like he’s just as bad as Mag (he’s not) deceiving the person he adores and who needs him
‘take me too the moooooon/ cause I feel so used’
- also s3 to me- that slightly hysterical tone in the heart of it all- what’s the point anymore
Okay if you read to the end of this wow you’re brave this was a mess. I’m just very passionate about the sUbTeXt and pAraLellS and yes I minor in literature
‘TIL I’M WITH YOU THEN, I’M WITH YOU THERE (AO3) CHAPTER TWO
summary: Ben meets the lonely boy that Juno has been sneaking off to see. He also learns that the lonely boy is a terrible dancer. But that's alright, honestly, because Juno's smile makes up for it.
rating: mature
pairings + characters: Peter Nureyev ♡ Juno Steel, Mick Mercury ♡ Benzaiten Steel, Buddy Aurinko ♡ Vespa Ilkay, Sarah Steel, Mag, Diamond, Rita, Jet Sikuliaq, Jack Takano/Ramses O'Flaherty, Sasha Wire
