Me when i can relate to jane prentiss

Okay I haven’t finished listening to the Magnus archives yet but I cannot stop thinking about Jane Prentiss as a character because I love her. I know that it’s the case that certain avatars serve the entity they do to avoid being victim of a different entity, and I believe that Jane Prentiss, intentionally or not is besides the point, became a servant of the corruption to avoid being a victim to the lonely, or if she hadn’t been compelled by the corruption that she would have ended up a victim of the lonely. There are specific quotes from MAG032 that would lend to this

“Sings that I am beautiful. Sings that I am a home. That I can be fully consumed by what loves me.” --> she’s throwing away being human for the sake of acceptance, love and having a place where she is wanted

“I wanted something beyond myself” --> she’s attempting to avoid insignificance 

“Of what we all are, when you strip away the pretence that there is more to a person than a warm, wet habitat for the billion crawling things that need a home. That love us in their way.” --> once again with the focus on being loved in return and being useful 

“ was lonely before. I know that. I had friends, at least I used to, but I lost them. Or they lost me.” --> self-explanatory

“I was abandoned” --> since the hive relies on her she can not be left behind again 

“I was so very painfully lonely. Was that it? Was I swayed and drawn simply by the prospect of being genuinely loved? Not loved as you would understand it. A deeper, more primal love. A need as much as a feeling. Love that consumes you in all ways.”

TMA thoughts from this evening:

Hive

- Jane’s being creepy right off the bat, I see

- The description of the itch under the skin, the need to move with no ability to… feels strangely accurate to restless legs syndrome actually :/ not sure I like that

- The idea of parisitic Jane implying the landlord is a failed attempt at a parasite… delicious

- I wonder if Oliver is Micheal? Or someone linked to him (it)? Another supernatural entity aware of and concerned about the worms.

- Spiders? Could be a generic house creature OR it could be a link to the ghost spider… the very one Martin was investigating when he got found by the worms…

Boatswain

- lmaoo Tim (i assume representing the viewers) calling out small errors in the statements

- “Well, I'm sorry if I found it hard to read a 200-year old letter, written in cursive by a native German speaker.”

- Poor Martin :(

- The drop in pitch when Jonathan starts to read out the statement 😭

- “Well, that and my bad spanish” given they don’t actually speak spanish in brazil I’d say theres certainly an issue there yeah

- I like the ship theme but otherwise dont have much to say about this plot

- HOWEVER i like the discussions of cover ups. I figured that was possible when Elias complained about the women who’s fiance died getting upset with Jonathan. Him pointing out the fiance’s family were patrons of theirs… i’m glad we’re revisiting it :)

I’ve also noticed that I’m nearing the end of season 1 so I’m expecting things to start ramping up pretty quickly in the last 7(?) episodes 👀
