MAG003 Mini-Review
Episode 3, thank you very much for the support that this silly section had that I thought
Now to the main course... The episode intrigued me from the start, mainly because... I liked Graham, and we all know what happens in a horror series when you like someone, they either die or they're evil... And they die.
I loved how paranoid Amy Patel was (I can't help but think of Scott Pilgrim's character) I wouldn't want someone who seems strange to me to know where I live either.
I love how this episode handles terror... I thought the terror was that... Graham was like me and liked to eat paper, but no, a Skinwalker it really caught me off guard
Favorite Lines during this episode:
"I saw him take one of his notebooks and start to tear out the pages one at a time. And then, slowly and deliberately, he ate them"
And she watched it comfortably, I would watch and eat paper to accompany him in the feeling
"I can’t stress enough how much this was not Graham"
It was a Not-Graham JAJJAJS
“Isn’t it funny, Amy, how you can live so near and never notice. I’ll need to return the visit someday.”
HOLY [skibidis]
"the words “Keep Watching” over and over again"
So he always knew that Amy was seeing him? Or what
I loved the episode, I would even say I like it more than the previous one, and that's hard because I loved the previous one, but somehow this one can top it.
I cant wait to the next episode!!!!
KEEP WATCHING KEEP WATCHING
I’m almost definitely not the first to think of this theory but what if Graham Folger was an avatar of the Eye?
It makes sense with his behaviour:
•he’s quite skittish/paranoid, very easy to startle
•He has loads and loads of notebooks that clearly aren’t actual notes and probably all say ‘keep watching’ —> eating the pages could be his way of feeding the Eye
•He doesn’t seem to mind being watched so intently by Amy (which seems to be a product of being marked)
•The car crash that killed his parents could well have had him in it as well (it’s never mentioned, since after all HE’S the one divulging that information), except it serves as his avatar death rather than actually killing him
There’s also the other theory/potential implication that he knew the not them was stalking him, thus encouraging him to act weird in view of Amy to keep her watching him, which would probably mean that he knows about the fears to at least a certain extent (because if he though he was being stalked by an actual person he would probably have alerted the police, but if it’s an eldritch creature and he knows that, then he can’t).
Expanding upon this, if we assume it’s true, here’s what I think happened:
When he first bought the web table, he didn’t know that the not them was bound to it. The not them doesn’t go after him yet, since he hasn’t got anyone in his life that’s the right level of close (His parents, even if they did happen to be distant, were dead, we don’t have any hints that he’s got other friends and Oliver is TOO close) but it does lie in wait. When he does realise, likely through realising he’s being stalked, he does, in fact, push Amy in order to mark her and thus get her to start watching.
If we add Oliver’s experiences to this then it still adds up, because the whole nature of his dreams are still very passive and beholding-y, especially in comparison to other manifestations of the end that seem to be more active. The whole thing is how he sees the tendrils, can’t stop seeing them, is burdened by the knowledge of everyone’s deaths but ultimately can’t do anything about it. So while he is an avatar of the End, it’s still very on brand for the Eye and it would make sense that he got marked by it.
ok I'm on TMA re-listen number... like 5 or 6 and I'm working on unraveling MAG3 (Across the Street). Obviously we have the Stranger, and obviously the Web makes a guest appearance in its duty binding the Not!Them creature. But there are a lot of little pieces of evidence to suggest that the Eye is present, as well.
Amy's unusually prolific people-watching habit is one sign, as well as how she specifically says that Graham was "compelling" to watch. I've theorized before about how compulsions in general are in the realm of Beholding. Graham, as well, experiences compulsions -- to "keep watching", and to write in his notebooks. Also, eating a book seems pretty in line with Eye bullshittery 👍
This does make me wonder if Eye-aligned people tend to be the ones to see through the Not!Them's influence. Doesn't explain why Melanie was immune and the rest of the archive wasn't, but... who knows.
Poor Graham, in the middle of a three-way supernatural tug-of-war...
just a little sketch in my journal but i miss graham folger what a fuckin weirdo
MAG 3: Across the Street
Graham
And Graham Folger
An art project I've slowly been working for a while now. I have a jacket with a bunch of decor on it for a fandom I'm not in anymore, so I wanted to switch it up for one I am interested in and I decided on a TMA theme.
So I've been designing as many patch ideas as I can, to hopefully bring to life later on. This is the first post of many.
I love the first three episodes so very much, Jonny really came out swinging with these.
