first statement about victims with a smoking habit, second statement set in bournemouth, third statement on the topic of witnessing a thing eating someone you knew, fourth statement about books you can't stop reading and the first mention of the library of jurgen leitner—like do i have to say it. love how incredibly, precisely targeted every single one of these is towards jon's own trauma. he was NOT doing well, every single end note in which he tries to tear the internal logic of the statement to shreds, reads as desperately passive agressive on a re-listen because the statements being unsettling is one thing, but these are all designed to unnerve him specifically! was it the web? or, elias must've had some control over what statements jon was allowed access to pre-S4, right, because he can't have jon knowing something he's not supposed to, not yet. did he arrange for him to find them like that? he didn't need to plan a web mark for jon but he never lets jon forget about a guest for mr spider... like, the way he talks about it in 160 ("but my god when you came to me already marked by the web i knew it had to be you" / "hoped that you were sent as some sort of implicit blessing on the whole project") —for elias it's all about him. something awful happened to you and then you were sent to me. you were made for me. and we mustn't forget our roots, jon. Sometimes I think about the brutal pipe murder and how we never ever see Elias use violence ever again (physical, that is, obviously, he does lots of mental violence, I wouldn't take that away from him). Even when his dream world is threatened at the end, even when HIS LIFE is threatened, his actual life that he has doomed the world for, he does not use violence

which leads me to believe that literally the only thing that made him so impulsive was that Jon was learning stuff from someone other than him or his own painful experiences or the eye. He did not like that Jon's perspective of the world was shifted by somebody else at all. He killed Leitner only because he was like! no! no! Jon's mine! I get to decide what he sees, what he knows, what he understands!

He'd have tried killing Gerry if Gerry wasn't dead I bet. Would have burnt his page if Jon hadn't decided to do it. Or, well, no, cause that would have been a kind thing to do to Gerry and he might have been too curious and not willing to go through the pain to do it, so maybe he would have just stolen the page from Jon.

on the one hand i don’t believe that if elias and jon were in a relationship elias would sacrifice his professional exterior just for the sake of it but on the other hand. imagine elias pushing jon’s buttons around other people for fun. he leans over to look at jon’s screen and his hand is automatically on jon’s shoulder. he leaves his office after a meeting with jon with his clothes purposefully crumpled and his hair a little mussed. he makes vague allusions to seeing jon at the weekend when they’re in conversation with others. he pulls jon in for a quick kiss even though they can hear footsteps coming down the hallway and every single time it happens it leaves jon flustered and flushed and speechless and staring daggers at elias, but never once does he tell elias to stop.

Something that will always get me about MAG 92 is the fact that Jon gets dragged back to the archives visibly worse for wear. His clothes are ripped, he’s covered in dirt, his hair is tousled and knotted, he reeks of ozone, damp earth, and blood. He is clutching a horrifically burnt hand and his neck wound is still open and sluggishly dripping blood onto the collar of (Georgie’s) shirt. All of this, and only one single person bothers to ask if he’s ok, bothers to ask what happened. (“Goodness Jon, whatever happened to your hand? And your neck-”) 

Then that very same person goes on to confess to two murders in front of you and all your co-workers. Not even Martin asks if Jon is ok. And then every single one of Jon’s assistants leave him bleeding, weak, and vulnerable in the hands of a literal murderer. Despite this, Jon can’t help but trust Elias, to need him, to ask him the most vulnerable questions because Elias is the only one to actively praise him. The only one to tell him he’s doing well, to make sure he’s ok, to care for him.

i know it’s somewhat stereotypical but i like to headcanon that elias is a bit of a coffee snob. he drinks espresso only and refuses to let anyone else use his coffee machine in case they mess with his settings because he’s got the whole thing down to an absolute science. jon insists that all coffee just tastes like coffee. they bicker about it constantly.

Elias who’s very concerned with keeping his body as healthy as possible so he doesn’t have to body hop too often so he’s kinda a health freak and refuses to do anything as stupid and poisonous as smoking but he’s soooo obsessed with Jon and being around him and drinking up the paranoia and discomfort Jon feels around him so he likes being with him during his smoke breaks but refuses Jon’s offers like this

i still think the most insane thing to happen in tma was them moving on from how elias reacted to being compelled and never addressing it again
