Nearly two years after being possessed by the Nogitsune, Stiles is still trying to get a handle on things. Away at college, he feels more stable; more settled. But at home in Beacon Hills for summer break after his Freshman year at UC Berkeley, he is once again plagued by nightmares.

The thing is, Void left behind a thousand years worth of information in Stiles' head. Information that Stiles is slowly realizing can help undo some of the damage that was done to Beacon Hills.

Between bodies once again turning up in Beacon Hills and an increasingly close relationship with Derek Hale, Stiles has a lot on his plate. Factor in a talking tree, a sacred duty to the land, and some dead/not-dead drama, and Stiles is about to have one Hale of a summer.

help! im having trouble finding a fic. i remember nothing about it except that Stiles has magic, Derek & Stiles are around the same age, Stiles & his dad moved to Beacon Hills after his mom died (this one im not 100% on), & Derek is living w his father/adoptive gaurdian/idk named Pádraig.

This was about to drive me crazy! I’m pretty sure this is the right one.

I'm really sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you knew of a fic where Stiles is the Hale pack emissary and the alpha mate (even though he doesn't know it) and he chases this frat boy into an aquarium because the guy thinks he uses fire magic. “Uh, dude, I don’t have fire powers. My specialty is water and ice,” he tells the guy firmly and his eyes go so wide that Stiles worries they might bulge out of his head and then he’d have to clean that up before the cleaners come in the morning and he’s really not feeling cleaning tonight. “And anyway, even if I did have fire powers, I could still use them. We’re not underwater. Plus if I had fire powers, I could probably create waterproof fire.”

“But, but you, you wear red! You always wear red! What mage wears red, but doesn’t have fire powers?” the dude exclaims and Stiles tenses a little, frowning. He wasn’t aware he was supposed to match his powers to his clothes. “You’re known as the Beacon Hill’s Alpha’s all-powerful fire Mage mate!”

“Red’s my favorite-” he starts to defend, but then he stops as the words settle in. “Wait, you said Alpha’s mate. What does that mean?”

Derek stands up, rushes to Stiles’ side and embraces him.

Oh, Goddess, if this is surely a dream, then a wonderful and fantastic one it is.

Stiles exhales and wraps his arms around Derek, breathing in the scent of his hair, taking a moment to admire how their bodies fit together. Derek’s arms hold him tight, and Stiles’ mind is reeling.

Derek’s unshaven cheek brushes against his own, and it feels soft, intimate. Domestic.

Derek leans back to look at him, eyes shining. Stiles doesn’t think he’s ever been this close to him before— close enough to see the myriad of colors in his eyes— gold, green, gray.

“How are you feeling? Last night, I— I was so worried, Stiles. I thought I lost you and then you said you’d sleep it off and you did, you’re wonderful and amazing and I can’t believe you—” Derek trails off, breathless, gazing into Stiles’ eyes.

Stiles’ heart is beating rapidly as Derek pulls him even closer, like he’s going for a kiss.  

A series of polite knocks rap on the door.

“A werewolf AND a hunter all in one, who would have thought,” Stiles says with a lazy smile pulling at his mouth, he’s naked, a sheet slung across his hips as Derek pulls a shirt on over his head.

“A mage AND a hunter,” Derek shoots back, giving Stiles a wolfish grin, “All in one.”

“I was a hunter first,” Stiles tells him, rolling over so the sheet slips, revealing bruises on his hips that match Derek’s fingers, “The mage thing just kind of happened.”

“Well I was a werewolf first, the hunter thing just kind of happened,” Derek says, tearing his eyes away from the bruises and the trail of hair that lead under the sheet to where Derek would like to be again.

“Are you really leaving so soon?” Stiles asks, his eyes darkening as he speaks and Derek just knows he won’t be leaving the hotel room, “We can’t go stalking vampires until the sun sets anyway, might as well pass the time with me.”

Derek rolls his eyes but pulled his shirt over his head and crawls back into the bed, kissing his way up Stiles’ abs to his neck.

When they manage to find the vampires nest and save the 8 teenagers that were being held and used as food Stiles says, “We make a pretty decent team wolf man.”

“I guess we do,” He says, “Maybe we could stick together for a little while.”

“Maybe we should.” Stiles says, pulling Derek in by the lapels on his leather jacket and kissing him until they’re both breathless. “So where’s the next stop?”

That’s how the legendary hunting team is born, of course Stiles makes it sound more dramatic when he tells their grandkids.

They burst through the portal in a gust of stale air and violet light, landing hard on the outskirts of a swamp. Stiles feels his knees buckle, both from the magic required to keep the portal open and from the force of their landing, but he grits his teeth, determined to stay standing in the presence of Derek Hale and his pack. Christ, it would be just his luck to rocket through his own portal at neck-breaking speeds and collide face-first with a puddle of sticky, disgusting mud.

Thankfully that doesn’t happen, which is good because Stiles can’t really afford to add useless to the list of things that Mage’s are; untrustworthy cowards, meddlers, monsters.
