🍧ICE CREAM🍧
It’s safe to say that Maggie really, really loves ice cream.
Meanwhile, since this beach outing is turning into an Academy meet and greet, the girls are all taking a chance to meet one another. Martha has already asked the other two if they would consider being her models later in the year, and while Polina’s not into it, Maggie is in - provided she can score free food at the events.
“Say, that’s the girl Frankie is dating?” Polina noticed the couple. “His Mom says she barely sees him these days because they are always together.”
“Yeah, she’s our roommate. And those two really are in their own little world, if I say so myself,” Martha laughed. From the looks of the, Rayen had nothing to worry about.
A nice summer day with the girls.
Returning to their apartment, they talked about the upcoming school year. Their living situation was a little strange: after the students and the Crimsons moved out, Boris and Toris rented out their old apartment for the girls, and they were currently living there alone. They knew, that sooner rather than later, they’ll get more roommates.
“I wonder what they’re going to be like,” Martha wondered. “I’d hate to live with someone who’s really difficult or mean.”
“I’m sure your mother won’t let that happen,” Rayen told her. “Speaking of roommates, want to bet these two are waiting for us?”
The young man and the fairy looked like they’ve been waiting for a while. If the suitcases were anything to judge by, they have just arrived.
“See, told you they’ll be here soon?” the fairy told him. “You owe me a fiver.”
Waving to the approaching women, she shouted, “Hi! Are you Martha and Rayen? I’m Maggie and this is Lawson.”
Dahlia and Terra have mentioned a certain blue-haired fairy, so here she is.
Maggie Cloudhopper, a close friend of Lawson’s.
“This guy spent half an hour looking for his glasses,” Maggie was telling Rayen the details of their trip, “and the whole time, they were right on top of his head. it was so funny when he finally realized!”
“People can be really forgetful,” Rayen chuckled. “So, you had a fun trip?”
“The best! The train station had a really cool ice cream place. So I dared Lawson to try to out-eat me. I won, of course!” Maggie bragged. “I may not look the part, but sweets are my specialty and I can eat a whole store of them at once. Do you have any by the way?”
“No, sorry. Um, actually the apartment is a little low on food. I tried to make some waffles earlier, but they came out burnt,” Rayen admitted.
“Oh, that’s not a problem, I burn food all the time. Let me tell you about that one time I nearly burnt popcorn,” Maggie started a new tale.
“And that’s why you’re no longer allowed around microwaves unattended,” Lawson reminded her. “That’s a thing, by the way. Mags is a fire hazard in the kitchen, so it’s better someone is with her when she’s making something. Speaking of this, how many of us are living here, this time?”
“It’s just the four of us for now. Mom and Boris mentioned we might get one or two more people, but that’s still up in air,” Martha shrugged. “In any case, it should be better than what you were dealing with in the winter. Nine people and more in that apartment at once? That’s a lot!”
“Yeah, we were a bit cramped,” he laughed. “But after it turned out or headmaster’s whole house was covered in weird spells, a small apartment was the better alternative.”
“I can imagine,” Martha nodded. “Mom filled us in on what happened. I still can’t believe my long-dead grandmother was alive and masquerading as Mom under all of our noses. Let me tell you, the Pearsons have been going through it after this discovery.”
“You have, haven’t you?” Lawson sympathized. He imagined the Pearsons had a lot of explaining to do, both within the family and to the rest of the magical community, about many things after the discoveries of this winter. And even though it made him feel a bit selfish, he was glad he wasn’t in their position. “Is that why you’re here? To get away from all the drama?”
The group went to the beach the next day to relax and get to know one another better.
While some are getting on like a house on fire, others are getting into feuds with old classmates.
Maybe Sam should’ve been careful about what he’s said to Lawson. It wasn’t really Lawson’s fault he had to leave for home at the last moment and leave him and Atherton to scramble to find a roommate. Sure, they found Toby and it all worked out, but it was a lot of extra stress.
“Dude, seriously, I already apologized so many times,” Lawson told him. “What was I supposed to do, just not go home?”
“There is a bit of that,” Martha laughed. “I’m the only one of the kids who’s not a fairy and who could get away from all the trouble at the moment. I’m a witch though and Mom preferred someone to keep an eye on things after how screwy things went here last time.”
“So you’re going to be our classmate now?” he asked.
“That’s right. And I’m going to be doubling at the fashion institute, so my hands are going to be full. But that doesn’t mean I’m only here to study. We should all live a little while we’re young, am I right?”
“Of course,” he agreed, starting to get the feeling this housing situation might not be as stress-free and peaceful as he initially hoped.
“Guys, guys, so, can we go in now?” Maggie asked. “I’m beat.”
“Yes, of course,” Rayen told them, leading the way. “And we’ll get you a copy of the keys tomorrow.”
