Just completed...Mill House Embroidery and Paper Art, on 6" hoop base

I had a feeling Witch Hat was gonna be life-changing and mind-blowing

Something funny I wanted to share. Before I started watching WHA I could tell it was gonna leave a huge impact on me. A whole week and a half before watching it, I said, and I quote:

Yk when u see a fandom getting traction and at first ur like how good could this be and then you see bits of it and it gets more and more traction and you hear audios from it with beautiful animation

and it strikes a chord in you that you know could be completely and utterly life changing

you can feel the ghost of a chokehold starting to form for something you haven't even seen yet but it's familiar to your soul in a way that feels like a lifelong friend

it seems to resonate with your entire being with a sense of intrinsic belonging

and you realize there is a piece of u that literally feels incomplete because of this thing that was never a part of you to begin with

and it makes you kind of emotional and you want to reach out to it and hold onto it tightly but ur afraid to

because it could change you and you don't know how much it will change you and who you will be after

Anyway that's me rn with witch hat atelier

And yeah. After watching all the current episodes, I read the entire Manga in pretty much one sitting.

I had no idea how right I was about the effect it would have on me.

Yknow... I always find it really fun and interesting to both read and see takes on magic and the act of wizardy less as an science and more as an artistic expression.

Some people are inherently more skilled with magic but regardless of your innate skill further study is always required, those who do study arent always college bound some are self taught and can surprisingly match or surpass those who went to school, some take decades others settle at a few years but all find their niche.

It also helps that the way magic is depicted and talked about both in learning/teaching is eerily similar to the process learning art!

Theres lots of talk about "using your minds eye" or "tapping into your inner potential" or "drawing from that special something within with all your feeling" when characters are being taught to cast their first spell, this then fails or explodes when they at what ever point cant control it either due to emotions or focusing too hard BUT usually these failures yeild some sort of result a piece to pick up from the ashes and build around. The work of magic usually also requires concetration to the point many Wizards choose to totally isolate themselves for the quiet, Oh hey what did that one guys shirt in the animators survival kit say again? "Animation is Concentration" hmmmmm odd coincidence

There are probably loads of other details and examples more people better studied in fiction can point out but Im not one of those Im more...passive about fiction and just to happened to...start noticing a very similar pattern between my favorite fantasy archetype and my own personal experiences as an artist and learning animator
