Hurricane Irma: Walt Disney World Damage via Social Media

Hurricane Irma passed over Walt Disney World in Orlando, and left some damage in its wake. Thankfully the damage was not nearly as severe as it could have been, as Irma seemed to have used up most of her strength battering the Caribbean and the Florida Keys. Still, millions are without power and it will be a long road to recovery for many.

The greatest PAC shift ever

The greatest PAC shift is a Support shift. Which means you are doing Fastass+ viewing for the parades and/or fireworks.

So the other day I was doing a support shift and it was fantastic!

During day parade, I was working the handheld so I was checking people into the section which was fun until my handheld died

For night parades, I was guarding the side entrance so no one without a magic band and fastpass came in. But while I was over there I made a friend during each parade.

During the first parade I had a guest come up to me and ask me about where I'm from because my nametag said West Haven, CT instead of University of New Haven. So here is how that conversation went:

Guest: Oh did you go to University of New Haven?

Me: I actually still go there! I am a sophomore Fire Science major.

Guest: Oh really!? I went there and my husband's mom works there.

Me: Oh cool! MY dad works there!

Guest: Oh who's your dad? His mom is the secretary for the Forensic Science department.

Me: My dad works at Campus Police. But I used to be a forensic major so I know exactly who you are talking about! I love her!

Guest: I'll make sure to tell her I met you!

That was just a fantastic part of my night!

Then during second parade I made friends with another guest. And here is a tidbit of that conversation:

Guest: I don't envy your job.

Me: Oh, well what is your job?

Guest: I'm a cop in New Jersey

Me: That's pretty cool. I'm apart of the fire department back home in Connecticut

Guest: Yeah, you have it lucky. Everyone loves firefighters... Everybody hates cops.

Me: Yeah, that's true... but you seem like a pretty awesome cop

Guest: Yeah, I'm the supervisor for like 5 divisions.

And that conversation continued, but it was great!

I had a fantastic night that night :)
