Is there any information in particular in the May/Robo-May video that particularly stands out to you or that you were unaware of?

What stands out to me... (not really in a surprising sense, but more of a "so they want to phrase it this way" sense)... is the concept of Magic restrictions.

I've stated it before, but powerful Magic can cause Information Flares and disrupt the world's stability... that much is very well known.  And of course the 666 Arcanum is a system that regulates what types of Magic most people can do.

But something that gets lost in translation (in Japanese that is) is the fact that Houriki doesn't just mean "Magic Energy", it also means "Magic LAW", as in it is an established RULE.

Hi-deigokutsuipo... (Forbidden Magic) is also known as a "Forbidden Binding Law".

But when they mean "Law", it's not just something like saying "It's against the law to cast this spell".... it's more like: "This Magic command is limited to this function"... in other words it's a Code system.

Just as webpages have XHTML scripts... the world "runs" on these scripts and that script is the "law" that allows certain actions to function properly.

Does that make sense to you?  I hope I conveyed that properly.

Magic and the very energy it is made of are built from a "script" that defines what it does and also "limits" what it does... pre-written so to speak.  The 12-Steps standard (as Sol once stated).

But the Backyard *has* no limits... bypassing that law was an easy task for someone like Valentine or even the Universal Will... even Izuna had no problem getting past that "script".

So I hope that clarifies a few more things about Magic that you maybe didn't notice before.

Magic Laws

I wrote this up yesterday night. It is a quick look at the laws surrounding Magic use there is. If there is more that come to me I’ll make sure to give it a quick update.

Make note that crimes will be named bellow this point. As love potions are illegal for a very specific reason, I’m sure you can figure out one of the crimes that will be mentioned. I just want to put that out there as a warning, because I’m not sure how sensitive people are, okay? Better be safe than sorry.

While magic laws are not very strict, there are rules. Charms (benevolent magic-users) have a tenancy to follow these rules, while a lot of Hexes (malevolent magic-users) still do follow these rules to some point. These rules are set by Covens and spread verbally, either by the Coven or, if you are unaware of them when breaking them, by the Hunters sent out to handle you. They are simple additions to their countries laws.

You may not enchant any object with potentially harmful effects, or to otherwise cause harm of any sort through the enchantment of objects.

Cursing another sentient being or any item is illegal.

Love Potions are illegal to use on other people, and any sex under the influence of love potion is considered non-consensual. You may use it to yourself however, as that is not covered by the law.

Any form of magical influence on the human mind and free will is forbidden. Brainwashing is forbidden, memory erasure is forbidden, conditioning is forbidden, mind reading is forbidden. The only case of mental interference is allowed is if the person who gives permission for you to enter your mind does so in writing, and verbally in front of several witnesses.

Any ritual that evokes the powers of someone else is forbidden unless you have absolutely no other choice. This includes those with good effects.

You may not change shape and impersonate any other living or undead being, as well as impersonating the dead. There is no exceptions to this rule. You may, however, change appearance to a fictional creation.

Necromancy of all forms is forbidden. Communicating with the dead is not.

The crimes are called, in order of the laws listed above: Reckless Enchanting, Enchanting with Intent to Harm, Curseweaving, Love Potion-Assisted Rape, Love Potion Distribution, Mental Assault, Practice of Illegal Rituals, Impersonation through Shapeshifting, and Necromancy.
